He has played many different kinds of characters and is well-known for his amazing dancing skills. As one of the highest-paid actors in India, he has won many awards, including six Filmfare Awards.

Roshan often works with his father, the director Rakesh Roshan. He first appeared in movies as a child actor in the 1980s. Later, he worked behind the scenes as an assistant director on his father's films. His first main role was in the hit movie Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai (2000), which won him several awards. After a few less successful films, his career took off again with the science-fiction movie Koi... Mil Gaya (2003).

He became even more famous for playing a superhero in its sequels, Krrish (2006) and Krrish 3 (2013). He has also been praised for his roles in movies like the action-packed Dhoom 2 (2006), the historical drama Jodhaa Akbar (2008), and the action-thriller War (2019).

Besides acting, Roshan has performed on stage and was a judge on the TV dance show Just Dance in 2011. He supports several charities and has his own clothing brand. Roshan was married to Sussanne Khan for fourteen years, and they have two children together.

Growing Up in a Film Family

Hrithik Roshan was born on January 10, 1974, in Bombay (now Mumbai), India. His family was already well-known in the world of Hindi movies. His father, Rakesh Roshan, is a film director, and his mother, Pinkie, is the daughter of producer and director J. Om Prakash. His uncle, Rajesh Roshan, is a music composer.

Roshan has an older sister named Sunaina. He went to the Bombay Scottish School. Growing up, Roshan faced some challenges. He was born with an extra thumb on his right hand, which made him feel different from other kids. He also had a stammer (a speech difficulty) from the age of six, which made speaking in class hard for him. He practiced every day to overcome it.

First Steps into Acting

Roshan's grandfather first put him on screen when he was six years old in the film Aasha (1980). He danced in a song and was paid ₹100. He also had small, uncredited roles in other family movies. His first role with lines was at age 12 in Bhagwaan Dada (1986).

Roshan knew he wanted to be an actor, but his father wanted him to finish his studies first. In his early 20s, he was diagnosed with scoliosis, a curve in the spine. Doctors told him he wouldn't be able to dance or do stunts. He was very upset but didn't give up on his dream. One day, he went for a jog on the beach and got caught in the rain. He realized he could run without pain, which gave him the confidence to keep going.

After graduating from Sydenham College with a degree in Commerce, Roshan worked as an assistant for his father on four films. He did everything from sweeping floors to making tea for the crew. This helped him learn how movies are made from the ground up.
