History of Aboite
Aboite started out as a train stop. It was a place where trains would pause on the Toledo, Wabash & Western Railway. This train stop was right where the railway crossed Aboite Road.
The name "Aboite" comes from a French word. It means "minnow," which is a type of small fish.
A post office was opened in Aboite in 1833. This allowed people in the community to send and receive mail. The post office served the area for many years. It finally closed down in 1921.
