Abraham Chepkirwok is a talented runner from Uganda. He was born on November 18, 1988. He is famous for his speed in the 800 metres race, which is a middle-distance event in athletics.

Abraham's Early Running Career
Abraham Chepkirwok was born in a place called Kapchorwa, Uganda. He started showing his amazing running skills at a young age. By June 2006, when he was still a junior athlete (meaning he was 19 or younger), he ran the 800 meters in 1 minute and 45 seconds. This was the fastest time in the world for junior runners that year!
Winning a World Junior Medal
Later in 2006, Abraham competed in the World Junior Championships in Beijing, China. He ran very well and won a bronze medal in the 800 meters. He was leading the race for a while, but two runners from Kenya managed to pass him near the end.
Becoming a Top Athlete
Abraham continued to improve his running times. In the indoor season of 2006–2007, he set a new Ugandan indoor record for the 800 meters, running it in 1 minute and 46.91 seconds.
Success in 2007
In 2007, Abraham had a very busy and successful outdoor season.
- He won the IAAF Grand Prix race in Dakar.
- He also won another Grand Prix race in Hengelo.
- He finished third in several other big races, like the Super Grand Prix in Doha, the Golden Spike Ostrava, and the Bislett Games.
In July 2007, he set a new personal best time of 1 minute and 44.78 seconds in Athens. He then competed in the World Championships and reached the final round. It was a very close race, and Abraham finished fourth, just barely missing a bronze medal by 0.02 seconds!
Olympic Dreams in 2008
In 2008, Abraham competed in the World Indoor Championships. He made it to the semi-final round. During the summer, he performed even better.
- He won the ISTAF Golden League race in Berlin.
- He finished second in Grand Prix races in Madrid and Athens.
- He won the Super Grand Prix race in London.
It was in Madrid that he set his amazing personal best and Ugandan record of 1 minute and 43.72 seconds. Abraham was the only middle-distance runner from Uganda to compete in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. He ran in the 800 meters competition but did not reach the final. He finished the 2008 season with a second-place finish at the World Athletics Final.
Later Achievements
In February 2009, Abraham set another national indoor record for Uganda. This time, it was in the 1000 meters race, which he ran in 2 minutes and 18.18 seconds in Stuttgart.
