Abraham François is a Canadian former professional football (soccer) player. He was born on June 7, 1977. He played as a defender for many teams during his career, which lasted from 1998 to 2016. Abraham also represented Canada in international competitions, winning gold medals at the 1997 Canada Games and the Francophonie Games.

Abraham François's Football Journey
Starting Out: Indoor Soccer Fun
Abraham François started playing football when he was just 7 years old. After winning medals at the Canada Games and Francophonie Games in 1997, he joined St. Louis Ambush. This was for an indoor football season. He played 15 games for them in the 1997-98 season. He also scored 2 goals in 8 games for the Detroit Rockers during the same season.
Playing for Montreal Impact
In 1999, Abraham was signed by his hometown team, the Montreal Impact. This was a big step, as it marked the start of his professional career. He played for them in both outdoor and indoor football seasons.
Loan to Sol de América
While still with the Montreal Impact, Abraham went on loan to a team in Paraguay called Sol de América. He played there for six months. Some famous players were on the team with him, including Dante Lopez and Enrique Vera.
Adventure in Asia: Tien Giang
After playing in Paraguay, Abraham traveled to Asia. He signed with Tien Giang FC in Vietnam. This was a new experience for him, playing in the V-League.
Back Home: Ottawa Wizards
In 2002, Abraham returned to Canada. He joined the Ottawa Wizards, a strong team in the Canadian Professional Soccer League.
He had an amazing season with Ottawa. The team went undefeated for 17 games in a row! This was a huge achievement in the league's history. The Wizards won their conference and finished first overall. They also won the Open Canada Cup again, beating Toronto Croatia 1–0. In the playoffs, they won the championship by defeating the North York Astros 2–0.
Second Time with Montreal Impact
Abraham returned to the Montreal Impact in 2003. He helped the team finish second in the league. They also won the Voyageurs Cup, which was a great success.
In 2004, Abraham was part of the Montreal Impact team that won the championship. He had an injury that season, tearing a ligament in his right knee. But the team still had an amazing year. They started with a 12-game undefeated streak. They went on to win the USL A-League Championship, beating the Seattle Sounders 2–0. This was the Impact's first championship since 1994.
In 2005, he came back to the Impact, but the coach decided he was no longer needed.
Moving to Toronto Lynx
On May 19, 2005, Abraham was traded to the Toronto Lynx. He played his first game for them on May 28, 2005. The team had a tough season, finishing last in the league.
Playing for Laval Dynamites
In 2006, Abraham signed with the Laval Dynamites. He helped them finish third in their division. They made it to the playoffs but lost to Toronto Croatia.
Indoor Soccer with Detroit Ignition
On October 26, 2007, he joined the Detroit Ignition in the MISL. His time in Detroit was successful. The team finished first in the regular season and reached the semi-finals in the playoffs.
Abraham later said that he could have played for one more year. However, the long travel from Montreal made it difficult for him to continue.
Representing Canada
In 1997, Abraham played for Quebec in the Canada Games. His team won the competition! After that, he was chosen to play for Canada at the Francophonie Games in Madagascar. Canada also won gold there. At the 1997 Francophonie Games, Abraham played alongside Patrice Bernier. One of his best memories was beating Cameroon 1–0 in the semi-finals.
Personal Life
Abraham's father was also a football player in Haiti. After retiring from playing, Abraham became a coach for the Dragons team at Collège Saint-Jean Vianney.
