Club Sol de América is a sports club from Paraguay. It is most famous for its exciting football (soccer) team. The club is located in the Barrio Obrero area of Asunción, the capital city.
It was founded way back in 1909. The main stadium where Sol de América plays its games is in Villa Elisa. This city is right next to Asunción. Sol de América has won the top football league in Paraguay, the Paraguayan First Division, two times. They won in 1986 and again in 1991. The club also has strong teams in basketball and a special department for athletics.

Athletics Department
The club has an athletics department that works with the Federación Paraguaya de Atletismo (Paraguayan Athletics Federation). This means they help train athletes for track and field events. Some of the people who help train these athletes include Edgar Torres and Leryn Franco. Leryn Franco is a famous javelin thrower who competed in the 2004, 2008, and 2012 Summer Olympics. She is also a director in the athletics department.
