History of Acebal
The town of Acebal was founded a long time ago. It was started in 1890 by a man named Amador Acebal. The local government was officially created on December 19, 1895.
How the Town Started
The land where Acebal now stands belonged to Amador Acebal and his wife, María Saa Pereyra de Acebal. They gave some of their land to the Central Argentine Railway. This was for building tracks for the Rosario - Peyrano train line.
The couple asked for a train station to be built on their land. This station opened in February 1891. A few months before, on July 22, 1890, the Santa Fe Government approved the plans for the new town. Later, on December 19, 1895, the Development Commission was formed. This group helped manage the town's growth.
Economy and Industry
Acebal is famous for its footwear industry. It is known as the national footwear capital of Argentina. Making shoes and boots makes up almost 60 percent of the town's economic activity.
Challenges in Footwear Production
In 2017, the footwear industry faced some big problems. Sales went down, and more shoes were imported from other countries. This caused production to drop by more than half. It was a very difficult time for the town's economy.
