Adão Nunes Dornelles (born April 2, 1923 – died August 30, 1991), known as Adãozinho, was a talented Brazilian football player. He was a striker, which means his main job was to score goals for his team. Adãozinho was born in Porto Alegre, a city in Brazil.

He played for some big football clubs in Brazil. He was also part of the Brazilian national team. Adãozinho helped his country reach the final of the 1950 FIFA World Cup, which was held in Brazil. He passed away in 1991 when he was 68 years old.

Playing for Clubs

Adãozinho played for several football clubs during his career.

  • He started his journey at Diário Official F. C. from 1932 to 1942.
  • From 1943 to 1951, he played for Internacional. This is one of the biggest clubs in Brazil.
  • After that, he moved to Flamengo in 1951 and played there until 1953. Flamengo is another very famous Brazilian club.
  • He also played for XV de Jaú during 1951 to 1953.

Adãozinho won many important titles during his time as a football player.

  • Campeonato Gaúcho: He won this championship five times with Internacional. This is a state championship for teams in the Rio Grande do Sul state of Brazil. He won in 1944, 1945, 1947, 1948, and 1950.
  • Campeonato Carioca: He won this championship once with Flamengo in 1953. This is a state championship for teams in the Rio de Janeiro state.
  • FIFA World Cup: He was part of the Brazilian team that finished as the runner-up in the 1950 FIFA World Cup. This means Brazil reached the final but did not win the tournament.
