Ada Gentile was born in Avezzano, Italy. She studied music at the Conservatorio di St. Cecilia in Rome. A conservatorio is a special school for music. She learned to play the piano and also how to compose music there.
After that, she continued her studies at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia. This is another important music academy. She learned from a famous composer named Goffredo Petrassi.
Ada Gentile has taught music at many universities around the world. She lectured at places like Northwestern University, Juilliard School, and Columbia University in the United States. She also taught in Europe and Asia.
