About Adam Carmer's Life
Adam Carmer was born on April 3, 1966, in Beverly Hills, CA. His parents were Robert and Nina Carmer. He lived in Beverly Hills until 1976, when his family moved to the San Fernando Valley. On October 12, 1991, he married his wife, Jill. They have three children together and live in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Adam Carmer's Education
Adam Carmer began his college studies at The University of Southern California. He focused on subjects like philosophy, movies, and how people communicate. In 1996, he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from The University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV). Later, in 2011, he completed his Master of Science degree in Hotel Administration, also from UNLV. Currently, he is studying at The University of Liverpool to earn a higher degree called a Doctorate in Higher Education.
Adam Carmer's Career Journey
Adam Carmer started his career in Las Vegas in 1993. His first job was as a maitre’d (a person who manages the dining room and welcomes guests) at Treasure Island. In November 1996, he became a member of the Chaine des Rotisseurs, which is a well-known gourmet club.
From 1997 to 2000, he worked at The Mirage Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. There, he was the Director of Restaurants and also the hotel's Sommelier. A sommelier is an expert in wine. He was the very first hotel sommelier for Steve Wynn, who owned the hotel. In 2002, Carmer also created a new way of serving tables called "Apparition Service."
Since 1996, Adam Carmer has been a professor at the UNLV Harrah's Hotel College. He teaches students about managing costs, starting new businesses, and learning about different types of drinks like spirits, wines, and beer.
The Freakin' Frog and The Whisky Attic
In June 2003, Adam Carmer opened a bar called The Freakin' Frog. Two years later, in 2005, he opened The Whisky Attic.
The Freakin' Frog first started as a place that offered ten beers on tap and 300 different wines. Over time, customers helped it become the first craft beer bar in Nevada. It also became a unique whisky bar. The Freakin' Frog offered over 1000 kinds of bottled beer and had 15 taps that changed regularly. The Freakin' Frog is currently taking a break from operations.
The Whisky Attic was originally located above The Freakin' Frog. It had more than 900 whiskies from all over the world. The Whisky Attic is still open today and has moved to a new location in the city.
The Method (CSTEM)
Through his teaching and tasting experiences, Adam Carmer developed a special way to taste drinks. This method is called the Carmer Spirits Taste Enhancement Method, or CSTEM. It is also known as "The Method." He even appeared on a TV show called Bar Rescue as an expert on craft beer.
