Early Life and First Steps in Acting
Adam Jeffries was born in Tuskegee, Alabama, around 1976. He grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. As a kid, he loved to perform and acted in plays at his school and in his community.
In the mid-1980s, he and his mother moved to Los Angeles, California. This move helped him start his professional acting career.
A Career on Television
Jeffries began his acting career in 1989. His first role was in an educational short film called A Nightmare on ... Street. This film was made to be shown in schools.
Breakthrough with True Colors
After appearing in a few TV shows and movies, Jeffries got his big break. He was cast as Lester Freeman in the sitcom True Colors. The show was about a family with a Black father and a white mother, and their children from earlier marriages.
The show's creator, Michael J. Weithorn, said Jeffries was chosen for the part because of his great sense of humor. A reviewer for The New York Times said Jeffries was charming in the role. He won two Young Artist Awards in a row for his work on the show. True Colors ended in 1992.
Starring in Thea
A year later, Jeffries joined the cast of another sitcom, Thea. He played Jarvis Turrell, Jr., the oldest son of the main character, played by Thea Vidale. For this role, Jeffries and the other young actors on the show were nominated for a Young Artist Award as a group.
Guest Roles and Later Work
In 1995, Jeffries appeared in an episode of The Client. In the episode, he played a student who had been kicked out of school for burning an American flag as a form of protest.
He also had guest roles on popular shows like Family Matters and The Wonder Years. His only part in a major movie was a small role in Ghost Dad (1990).
After 1995, Jeffries took a break from acting for five years. He returned in 2000 with a role on the soap opera Days of Our Lives and the sitcom Just Shoot Me!. His last known acting role was in a 2003 TV movie called Newton.
