Addis is a town in West Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, United States. It is a part of the larger Baton Rouge area. In 2020, about 6,731 people lived there.

History of Addis

Addis was started around 1881 or 1882. It was first called Baton Rouge Junction. The town grew because it was an important stop for the Texas and Pacific Railroad. This was a place where trains could switch tracks or get supplies.

Around 1909, the people living there changed the town's name to Addis. They did this to honor J. W. Addis. He was a railroad official who helped get a train station, a hotel, and other buildings built in the town in 1904.

The old Bank of Addis building is in the town. It is now a museum called the Addis Museum. This building is special because it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Addis is located in Louisiana at coordinates 30°21′17″N 91°15′53″W / 30.35472°N 91.26472°W / 30.35472; -91.26472. It covers an area of about 1.8 square miles (4.7 square kilometers). Almost all of this area is land.

The climate in Addis is called Cfa, according to the Köppen climate classification. This means the town has mild temperatures. It also gets a lot of rain throughout the year and has hot summers.
