History of Ade
Ade was first planned as a community in 1906. It was given its name to honor John Ade. He was the very first "recorder" for Newton County. A recorder is an official who keeps important public records.
John Ade was also the father of a famous person named George Ade. George Ade was an American author and a writer of plays. He was well-known for his funny stories and plays about everyday life.
A post office was opened in Ade in 1904. This was a place where people could send and receive mail. However, the post office did not stay open for very long. It closed down in 1912.
