Playing for São Caetano
One of Adhemar's most notable times was with the club São Caetano. In the year 2000, he scored 22 goals in a big tournament called the Copa João Havelange.
His goals helped São Caetano reach the final match against Vasco da Gama. Even though his goals in the earlier stages didn't count for the overall top scorer award, he was still a key player for his team.
Time in Germany with VfB Stuttgart
In January 2001, Adhemar moved to Germany to play for VfB Stuttgart, a well-known football club. He made a fantastic start, scoring three goals in his very first league game against 1. FC Kaiserslautern. This is called a hat-trick!
He played for VfB Stuttgart for about a year and a half. During this time, he played in 39 matches and scored nine goals in the Bundesliga, which is Germany's top football league.
A Tryout with American Football
Adhemar's powerful kicks were so famous that they even caught the attention of an American football team! The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a professional team from the United States, invited him to try out.
During his tryout, Adhemar showed off his amazing kicking power. He successfully kicked nine out of ten field goals from 50 yards away! That's a very long distance in American football. The Buccaneers were so impressed that they offered him a big contract. However, Adhemar could not accept the offer because of issues with getting a work permit to play in the United States.
Coming Out of Retirement
After some time away from professional football, Adhemar made a brief return to the sport. On March 2, 2012, he came out of retirement to play in a lower-level league in Brazil for Serrano.
