Location and Geography

Adobe Gulch is found in the northern part of San Mateo County. It's nestled on the eastern side of the Santa Cruz Mountains. The valley's lowest point is about 97 meters (or 318 feet) above sea level. You can find its exact spot using coordinates: 37 degrees, 29 minutes, 53 seconds North and 122 degrees, 20 minutes, 51 seconds West.

Water Flow and Connection

Adobe Gulch is the northernmost of several small streams or valleys that flow down from the Santa Cruz Mountains. These streams are called "tributaries," meaning they feed into a larger body of water. In this case, Adobe Gulch and its neighboring tributaries flow into the Upper Crystal Springs Reservoir. Historically, they also flowed into a place called Laguna Creek. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) has officially named Adobe Gulch, making it a recognized geographical feature.
