Adrienne Kress is a talented Canadian author and actress. She is known for writing exciting books for children and young adults. She also acts in plays and movies.
Her Writing Career
Adrienne Kress has written many popular books. For younger readers, she wrote Alex and the Ironic Gentleman and Timothy and the Dragon's Gate. These books were published by Scholastic.
She also writes novels for young adults, like The Friday Society and Outcast.
In 2016 and 2017, Adrienne started two new book series for middle schoolers. The first was The Explorers: The Door in the Alley. The second was Hatter Madigan: Ghost in the H.A.T.B.O.X., which she wrote with famous author Frank Beddor. This book is set in the same world as his Looking Glass Wars series.
When Hatter Madigan: Ghost in the H.A.T.B.O.X. was announced, Adrienne appeared on the TV show The View. She dressed up as Alyss Heart, a character from the Looking Glass Wars books. The TV host Whoopi Goldberg supported a project to make a graphic novel based on the series. Whoopi even had a character in the book series named after her!
In 2016, Adrienne also wrote an essay for a non-fiction book called The Secret Loves Of Geek Girls. Her essay appeared alongside works by other well-known authors like Margaret Atwood.
The second book in The Explorers series, The Reckless Rescue, came out in 2018. The third book, The Explorers: The Quest for the Kid, was released in 2019.
Also in 2019, Adrienne wrote the first novel based on the video game Bendy and the Ink Machine. It was called Bendy and the Ink Machine: Dreams Come to Life. She wrote three more books in this series between 2019 and 2023. In December 2024, Adrienne co-wrote Five Nights at Freddy's: Return to the Pit. This was an interactive novel in the popular Five Nights at Freddy's game series. She wrote it with the game's creator, Scott Cawthon.
Adrienne has also been featured on the TV show InnerSPACE. She talked about how she used the martial art of Bartitsu in her novel The Friday Society. Bartitsu was made famous by the author Arthur Conan Doyle.

The film rights for Alex and the Ironic Gentleman were bought by The Weinstein Company. This means they planned to turn the book into a movie.
