Advance is a small town in Indiana, United States. It is located in Boone County, within Jackson Township. In 2020, the town had a population of 503 people.

History of Advance
The town of Advance was officially started in 1872. It was first called "Osceola." However, there was already another town with that name in Indiana. So, the name "Advance" was chosen. People hoped this name would show the progress the town would make when the Midland Railway arrived.
One of the few streets in Advance is called Wall Street. It was named after Joe Wall. His family owned a lot of land around the town, more than 2,000 acres (about 8 square kilometers), until 1971.
Tornado in 1995
On May 13, 1995, a powerful tornado hit Advance. It caused about $2,000,000 worth of damage to the town. This tornado was part of a larger group of tornadoes that struck the Midwest region that day.
