Adventure Con was a fun event held every year in Knoxville, Tennessee. It was like a big fair for fans of science fiction, comic books, and movies. People could meet actors, artists, and buy cool stuff.

Many fan groups and clubs came to Adventure Con. They often set up their own booths. Groups like the 501st Legion and Rebel Legion were there. These groups dress up as characters from Star Wars. Other clubs focused on collecting or making costumes. The show also had many dealers. They sold toys, comic books, trading cards, and items from movies and TV shows.

History of Adventure Con

Adventure Con started in 2002. It was created by Marcus Wollack. The very first show was on June 1–2, 2002. It took place at the Knoxville Expo Center.

In 2003, there were two shows. One was in the spring and another in the fall. The spring 2003 show was held in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

Starting in 2005, Adventure Con moved to the Knoxville Convention Center. This new place had a lot more space for all the exhibits. The 2005 show even had two full days of gaming events. In 2006, a cool replica of the Back to the Future Delorean car was at the show.

New Owners and Big Moments

In 2007, a company called Las Vegas Autographs, LLC, bought Adventure Con. They wanted to focus more on comic books. They also hoped to attract 10,000 visitors.

The 2007 show became famous for a Star Wars-themed wedding. This special event was shown on many news channels across the country. The 2008 show had a concert by Smith & Pyle. It also featured a "birthday party" for Jason Voorhees. He is a famous character from the Friday the 13th movies.

In 2009, Adventure Con had two events again. The fall show moved to the Pigeon Forge Convention Center. The 2010 show was also there. However, it was smaller and some people felt it was not well organized.

The Final Shows

Adventure Con planned a tenth anniversary show for 2011. It was supposed to be back in Knoxville. But the show was delayed. Many of the planned celebrity guests were no longer able to attend.

The tenth anniversary show was finally rescheduled. It took place on October 12–13, 2012. This was also held at the Knoxville Convention Center. This was the last Adventure Con event.
