Afef Jnifen was born in 1963 in Ben Gardane, Tunisia. She later became an Italian citizen. Her father, Mohamed Jnifen, was a diplomat for Tunisia. Her mother, Saida Benina, has Turkish family roots.
Her Start in Modeling
Afef's modeling career began when photographer Jean-Paul Goude discovered her. He saw her walking on a beach in the Bahamas. Goude was there shooting an advertisement for Club Med. He included Afef in the ad. He also suggested she go to Paris to meet designer Azzedine Alaïa.
Afef quickly became a favorite model for many top European designers. She traveled between Milan and Paris for her work. She modeled for famous brands like Armani, Fendi, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Roberto Cavalli. Her career in fashion has lasted for over thirty years. She has also represented big international brands like L'Oréal.
Afef on Television
Afef Jnifen became well-known in Italy through television. In 1982, she was a hostess on the TV show Maurizio Costanzo Show on Canale 5. She later hosted other TV programs. These included Quelli che... il calcio in 1993 on Rai 3. She also hosted Scommettiamo che.... in 1999 with Fabrizio Frizzi on Rai 1. In 2006, she hosted La grande notte with Gene Gnocchi on Rai 2. After 2006, she decided to step back from being in the public eye as much.

In 1999, Afef appeared in an episode of the TV series Il commissario Montalbano. Later, in 2016 and 2017, she was a judge on Project Runway Middle East. Afef Jnifen has been married four times. Her first marriage was in Tunisia when she was young. Her second marriage was to lawyer Marco Squatri from 1990 to 2001. They have one son together. Her third marriage was to businessman Marco Tronchetti Provera. He is the head of Pirelli & C. S.p.A. and Telecom Italia. They were married from 2001 to 2018. Since October 2021, she has been married to businessman Alessandro del Bono.
