Afon Dulyn, a river in the Carneddau mountains.

Afon Dulyn (which means River Dulyn in English) is a river in north-west Wales. It starts from Llyn Dulyn, a lake high up in the Carneddau mountains. The river then flows down and joins the larger river Conwy.

A little way downstream from Llyn Dulyn, another small river called Afon Melynllyn flows into Afon Dulyn. This small river comes from a nearby lake called Llyn Melynllyn.

Afon Dulyn does not carry a lot of water. This is because some of the water from Llyn Dulyn is sent to other places. It goes to large water storage areas called reservoirs, specifically Llyn Eigiau and Llyn Cowlyd. These reservoirs help supply water to local communities.

The Dulyn Gorge

The area around Afon Dulyn is very special. The part known as Ceunant Dulyn, or the Dulyn Gorge, is a protected area. It has been a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) since January 1, 1961.

The organisation responsible for looking after this special site is Natural Resources Wales. They work to make sure the plants and animals in the gorge are safe and healthy.
