Agualeguas is a city and a municipality located in the northeastern part of Nuevo León, Mexico. It's found in a special spot at coordinates 26°19′N 99°32′W / 26.317°N 99.533°W / 26.317; -99.533. The name "Agualeguas" was chosen to honor the first people who lived in this area, the Gualegua tribe.

This place officially became a village on January 7, 1821. It was named "St. Nicholas of Gualeguas" by Bro. Diego Velázquez, who was part of the colonial government at that time. The municipality covers an area of about 917.6 square kilometers (which is about 354 square miles). It sits 180 meters (about 590 feet) above sea level. In the year 2000, about 4,492 people lived there.
