Ahmet Haxhiu (6 May 1932 – 6 July 1994) was an important Kosovo Albanian political activist. He played a key role in supporting the Kosovo Liberation Army in the early 1990s. He was a leading figure in the Revolutionary Movement for Albanian Unification. This movement aimed to bring together different groups working for change against the government of FR Yugoslavia. Later, Haxhiu joined the People's Movement of Kosovo and was a close helper of Adem Demaçi.

Ahmet Haxhiu: A Kosovo Leader
Ahmet Haxhiu dedicated his life to political activism in Kosovo. He worked towards a better future for his people. His efforts were focused on uniting groups that sought more rights and independence for Kosovo.
Early Life and Activism
Ahmet Haxhiu was born on May 6, 1932. He grew up in Pristina, which was then part of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. From a young age, he became involved in political activities. He believed strongly in the rights of Kosovo Albanians.
Working for Change
Haxhiu became a key figure in the Revolutionary Movement for Albanian Unification. This group worked to bring together various organizations. These organizations were all focused on bringing about political change in Kosovo. They wanted to see Kosovo become more independent from the government of Yugoslavia. Ahmet Haxhiu also played a role in supporting the efforts of the Kosovo Liberation Army. Later, he joined the People's Movement of Kosovo. Here, he worked closely with Adem Demaçi, who was another very important leader.
A National Hero
Ahmet Haxhiu passed away on July 6, 1994. Years later, his contributions were officially recognized. On November 28, 2012, which is Albanian Flag Day, he received a special award. The fourth President of the Republic of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, honored him with "The Order Hero of Kosovo". This award is given to people who have shown great bravery and service to Kosovo.
Family Legacy
Ahmet Haxhiu's legacy continues through his family. His granddaughter, Albulena Haxhiu, has also become a well-known politician in Kosovo.
