Becoming Part of a Lordship
In 1366, Henry II de Trastámara became king in Calahorra. He gave the Lordship of Cameros to a nobleman named Juan Ramirez de Arellano. This was a reward for his help. Ajamil was one of the villages that became part of this lordship.
Later, the power over Ajamil went to the counts of Aguilar and the lords of Cameros. This system, where lords owned the land and people, lasted until 1812. That's when the Spanish Constitution ended the feudal system.
Ajamil's Population in the Past
A census from the 16th century counted the population of Castilla. It showed that Ajamil had about 50 homes. This meant around 300 people lived there at that time.
Changing Provinces
Before 1833, Ajamil was part of the province of Soria. It had its own independent laws. But on November 30, 1833, a new province called Logroño was created. Ajamil then became part of this new province.
