The Dhubi Sheikhdom (also called Al-Dhubi or Al-Dubi) was a small area that existed a long time ago. It was located in what is now Yemen. For many years, it was under the protection of the British.
Dhubi was situated in a specific region. It was found between places like Mawsata and Hadrami. It was also near Lower Yafa and Upper Yafa.
The last ruler of Dhubi was removed from power in 1967. This happened when a new country, the People's Republic of South Yemen, was formed. Today, the land where Dhubi once was is part of the country of Yemen.
History of Dhubi
Dhubi was one of five small states known as sheikhdoms. These sheikhdoms were all part of a larger area called Upper Yafa.
On May 11, 1903, Dhubi signed a special agreement with Britain. This agreement was called a protectorate treaty. It meant that Britain would protect Dhubi.
Dhubi was officially part of the Western Aden Protectorate. This was a group of states that Britain looked after.
Dhubi never joined a group called the Federation of South Arabia. However, it did become part of the Protectorate of South Arabia between 1963 and 1967.
Dhubi's Rulers
Dhubi was led by rulers known as sheikhs. A sheikh is a leader of a tribe or a small area. Their official title was Shaykh al-Mashyakha ad-Dhubiyya.
