Alaska Range facts for kids
The Alaska Range is a huge chain of mountains in Alaska, United States. It stretches for about 400 miles (640 kilometers) from the northwest to the southeast. This mountain range is home to Denali, which is the highest mountain in North America! Denali stands incredibly tall at 20,320 feet (6,194 meters).
The Alaska Range is also famous for its many glaciers. These are like giant, slow-moving rivers of ice! Some of the well-known glaciers here include the Canwell, Castner, Black Rapids, Susitna, Yanert, Muldrow, Eldridge, Ruth, Tokositna, and Kahiltna Glaciers.
Four main rivers flow through the Alaska Range. These are the Delta, Nenana, Nabesna, and Chisna Rivers. The Nenana River is a very popular spot for whitewater rafting in Alaska. People love to go on exciting boat trips down its fast-moving waters.
