Alba Martínez Reche (born December 17, 1997) is a singer and songwriter from Elche, Spain. She became well-known in 2018. This was after she finished second in Operación Triunfo. This is a Spanish TV show where people compete to sing.
After the show, Alba signed with Universal Music. She released her first album, Quimera, in 2019. This album reached number three on the Spanish music charts. It sold over 20,000 copies. Quimera was even nominated for a Latin Grammy Award.

Early Life
Alba Reche was born in Elche on December 17, 1997. Her parents are Miguel Ángel Martínez and Rafaela Reche García. She has a younger sister named Marina, who also sings.
Alba loved music, dancing, and art from a young age. She joined a dance academy. She also studied Fine Arts at the Technical University of Valencia. At the same time, she worked as a waitress. She would often sing at a music pub in Valencia late at night. In 2018, Alba left college. She was chosen to be a contestant on Operación Triunfo.
Career
2018-2019: Operación Triunfo
Alba's sister encouraged her to try out for Operación Triunfo. Alba was chosen and joined the show in September 2018.
During the show, Alba was a fan favorite. This happened after she sang "La Llorona". This is a traditional Mexican folk song. Her performance was highly praised. She also sang "She Used to be Mine" by Sara Bareilles. This performance impressed Sara Bareilles herself. It even got Alba a mention in The New York Times.
Alba also sang "Je Veux" by French singer Zaz. Zaz then invited Alba to perform with her. They sang together at the show's final gala. They also performed at Zaz's sold-out concert in Madrid. In December, Alba finished second on the show. She received 35% of the public's votes.
Alba was considered to represent Spain in the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest. She had a song called "¿Qué Será Luego?". However, the song was not chosen for the final. In January, Alba's album of her Operación Triunfo performances topped the Spanish charts.

2019-present: Quimera
After Operación Triunfo, Alba signed a music deal. She joined Universal Music. On October 4, 2019, she released "Medusa". This was the first song from her new album. The song became a top 70 hit in Spain. It showed her new synth-pop and R&B sound.
Two weeks later, "Caronte" was released. This was the second song from her album. It reached number 68 on the Spanish music charts. On October 25, 2019, her first album, Quimera, came out. The album's songs are inspired by Greek mythology stories. The album reached number three on the Spanish album charts.
In April 2020, Alba released an acoustic EP. It was called Sobre Quimera. She recorded it live at the Reina Sofía Museum. A music video for the title track was released a week before.
In December, Alba started her Quimera Tour. This tour promoted her new album. It began with two sold-out shows in Elche. The tour was paused in March 2020. This was due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain. Many concerts were canceled or moved to later dates.
Alba then went on a summer concert tour. It followed social distancing rules. During this time, she worked with other artists. They made a charity song called "Escriurem (Jo Em Corono)". The money raised went to a medical research foundation. She also took part in the "People in Red" gala. This event raised money for research into diseases like HIV, cancer, and Alzheimer's.
