Natalia Lacunza Sanabdón (born on January 10, 1999) is a talented Spanish singer and songwriter. She became well-known in 2018 after finishing third in Operación Triunfo. This was a popular Spanish TV show where people competed to show their singing skills.

After the show, Natalia signed a music deal with Universal Music Spain in 2019. She then released her first extended play (EP), called "Otras Alas", in June 2019. An EP is like a mini-album with a few songs. Her first song from the EP, "Nana Triste", featured Spanish singer Guitarricadelafuente. This song became very popular, reaching number four on the Spanish music charts. Her EP "Otras Alas" was number one for two weeks and quickly earned a gold award. Natalia released her second EP, "EP2", on March 13, 2020. It also reached the top of the Spanish album charts.

Early Life and First Steps in Music

Natalia Lacunza was born in Pamplona, Spain. From a young age, she felt a strong connection to music. She learned to play the fiddle at a music school. Natalia comes from a family of musicians and actors. She started acting in small plays because her uncle owned a theater company. This is where she found her love for performing.

As a teenager, Natalia also learned to play the guitar. She continued taking dance lessons, which she had done since she was a child. She enjoyed ballet but especially loved modern dance styles.

Natalia studied Audiovisual Communication at the University of Navarra. However, after two years, she decided to leave to focus on her music career. She first started singing under the name Elian Bay. This name was inspired by James Bay, one of her favorite artists.

In 2017, she tried out for another TV music show called La Voz. She sang 'I Lived' by One Republic but did not make it past the first round. In June 2018, she auditioned for Operación Triunfo. She sang her own song, "Don't Ask", which was in English. She got into the show in September 2018. Natalia quickly became a favorite and made it to the final, finishing in third place.

In January 2019, Natalia was considered to represent Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest. However, another singer, Miki Núñez, was chosen instead. Natalia did not mind, explaining that being a new artist in such a big contest would be a lot of pressure.

Music Career Highlights

2019–2021: Otras Alas and EP2

After Operación Triunfo ended in December 2018, Natalia began working on her own music. In February 2019, she started a tour with other singers from the TV show. This tour had 13 concerts and brought together over 120,000 fans.

In the spring of 2019, Natalia signed a record deal with Universal Music Spain. On June 4, 2019, she announced her first song, "Nana Triste", with Guitarricadelafuente. The song was released on June 14 and received great reviews. It helped both artists become more famous. A week later, on June 21, she released her first EP, "Otras Alas". This EP also featured other artists like Marem Ladson. It quickly sold over 20,000 copies in Spain, earning a gold award. The EP was also number one on the Spanish Album charts for two weeks. Later that year, "Tarántula" was released as the second song from the EP. Natalia performed songs from her EP at various events, including the Coca-Cola Music Experience.

In January 2020, Natalia was nominated for several awards, including 'Best New Artist' and 'Best Album' for "Otras Alas". She also started hinting at her next music project. On January 24, she released "Olvídate de Mí", the first song from her new EP. She performed this song on the eleventh season of Operación Triunfo. In February, she released "Algo Duele Más" with BRONQUIO. She also worked with Pol Granch on the song "En Llamas".

Her second EP, titled EP2, was released on March 13, 2020. Natalia had planned to tour Spain, but these plans were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. EP2 became number one on the Spanish Album chart. On June 19, Natalia released a live EP called "En Casa". It featured acoustic versions of four songs from EP2, recorded at her home.

2022–2023: First Album and Duro EP

On June 10, 2022, Natalia Lacunza released her first full studio album, "Tiene Que Ser Para Mí". This album was announced in May and included the song "Todo Va A Cambiar". On November 11, she started the "Tiene Que Ser Para Mí Tour". This tour had 12 shows and ended on March 2, 2023, in Pamplona.
