Aitana Ocaña Morales (born June 27, 1999), known simply as Aitana, is a Spanish singer and songwriter. She became famous in 2017. This happened when she was the runner-up in the TV show Operación Triunfo.
While on the show, Aitana recorded the song "Lo Malo" with Ana Guerra. This song quickly became a huge hit in Spain. It went straight to number one and stayed there for many weeks. After the show, Aitana signed a big record deal with Universal Music. She then released her first solo song, "Teléfono". This song was also very successful and broke streaming records.
Her first album, Spoiler, came out in 2019. It was nominated for a Latin Grammy. Her concert tour for this album, called Play Tour, was very popular. In 2020, she released her second album, 11 Razones. This album included popular songs like "+ (Más)" and "Corazón Sin Vida". Aitana also started acting in the Disney+ series La Última (2022). Early Life
Aitana Ocaña Morales was born in Barcelona, Spain. Her birthday is June 27, 1999. She is the only child of Cosme Ocaña and Belén Morales. Aitana grew up in the towns of Sant Climent de Llobregat and Viladecans.
In 2014, Aitana started sharing her singing on YouTube. She would sing covers of popular songs. That same year, she also released her first original songs. In 2017, she finished high school. She planned to study design at university. During this time, she auditioned for Operación Triunfo and was chosen for the show.
Career
2017–2018: Operación Triunfo and First Songs
In October 2017, Aitana joined the TV music show Operación Triunfo. After more than three months, she finished as the runner-up. While on the show, she tried to represent Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018. She sang "Arde" by herself and "Lo malo" with Ana Guerra.
"Lo malo" became a huge hit in Spain. It was number one on the music charts for five weeks. The song was also certified 5x platinum, meaning it sold a lot of copies. A new version of "Lo malo" was released in August 2018. It featured singers Greeicy and Tini.
Aitana went on a tour with her Operación Triunfo friends in 2018. They performed 23 shows for almost 300,000 people. In July, she released her first solo song, "Teléfono". This song became her first number-one solo hit in Spain. It stayed at the top for six weeks. The music video for "Teléfono" was the most watched video on YouTube in Spain on its first day.
"Teléfono" was part of her first mini-album, Tráiler, released in November 2018. This album had six original songs. One song was a collaboration with singer Lele Pons. A week later, "Vas a Quedarte" was released. This song was written with the band Morat. It became her third number-one hit in Spain. 2019-2020: Spoiler and 11 Razones
Aitana started talking about her first full album in March 2019. She had planned to release another mini-album, but changed her mind. She announced the album's name, Spoiler, and said it would come out in early summer. In April, she worked with Morat again on the song "Presiento". In May, she sang "A Whole New World" with Zayn for Disney's live-action movie Aladdin.
On May 17, 2019, she released "Nada Sale Mal". This was the first song from her new album. The album Spoiler was released on June 7, 2019. It quickly reached number one and was certified Gold. It was also nominated for a Latin Grammy. Later that month, her song "Me Quedo" with Lola Indigo was released. Aitana was nominated for Best New Artist at the 20th Annual Latin Grammy Awards.
A special version of Spoiler was released in December 2019. It included acoustic versions of her songs and a tour documentary. Aitana ended 2019 as one of the most streamed female artists on Spotify in Spain.
Her first big concert tour, the Play Tour, happened from June to December 2019. It had 27 shows. A planned extension of the tour in 2020 was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A video of the show was released as Play Tour: En Directo.
On December 18, 2019, Aitana released "+ (Más)" with Cali y El Dandee. This song was very successful in Spain. It also showed a new pop rock sound for Aitana. In April 2020, she sang with David Bisbal on "Si Tú la Quieres". This song became a top 20 hit. In May, Aitana announced more collaborations. 2021-Present: Acting and Alpha
In April 2021, Aitana released "Ni Una Más". This song was called a "feminist anthem". It was popular on TikTok. During the summer, Aitana worked with Fresquito and Mango on "Mándame Un Audio". She also worked with Zzoilo on a remix of his song "Mon Amour". This song became number one in Spain and stayed there for six weeks. She also released "Aunque No Sea Conmigo" with Evaluna Montaner. In September, she released her solo song "Berlín". Other songs like "Formentera" with Nicki Nicole, "En El Coche", and "Otra Vez" were released in 2022.
Later in 2022, Aitana starred in the Disney+ musical series La Última. She played an aspiring singer named Candela. The show is about Candela's relationship with a boxer, played by Miguel Bernardeau. Aitana helped write and produce most of the songs for the show's music. The main song, "La Última", was released in November 2022. The soundtrack had 16 songs and received good reviews. Aitana will also star in the upcoming film Un peu, beaucoup, aveuglément.
On March 3, 2023, Aitana shared a preview for her new album, Alpha. She said it would be released in 2023. The first song from the album, "Los Ángeles", came out on March 31. In 2018, Aitana became a young ambassador for the clothing company Inditex. She released a special T-shirt with Stradivarius. She also partnered with Rimmel London and Good Hair Day. That fall, she released an illustrated book called La Tinta de Mis Ojos. She also released her first perfume. Aitana also worked with Coca-Cola for their 2018 Christmas song. In 2019, she had a merchandise collection for her Play Tour.
In 2020, Aitana became the new face for Multiópticas and released special sunglasses. She also became an ambassador for the fashion brand Yves Saint Laurent. Her second perfume, Be Magnetic, was released in September 2020. She also worked with Coca-Cola again for their #OpenToBetter campaign. As part of this, Aitana and Katy Perry recorded a new version of Perry's song "Resilient".
In 2021, her third perfume, "Aitana 1999", was released. She also launched a new clothing collection with Puma. In September, Aitana worked with McDonald's to create a special meal called "McAitana".
