Musical Style and Influences

Musical Style

When Tini worked on Violetta, she sang pop music and Latin music. She continued this pop sound on her first solo album, Tini (Martina Stoessel). As she grew up, her next album, Quiero Volver, showed a new sound with more serious Latin music. Tini then explored genres like reggaeton, cumbia, urban, and trap on her third album, Tini Tini Tini. She liked that this album had "a lot of variety and all kinds of sounds."

Her fourth album, Cupido, also has Latin music elements and strong influences from electronica. She described it as "An era full of growth and personal discovery." Tini is also known for her romantic ballads. She said she likes to try different things in music. "I don't want to do the same thing every day. I don't listen to the same kind of music, or even the same kind of genre, every day. So when it comes to recording music, I do different things. I'm always changing, evolving. Some days I want to write a ballad, others I want to work on a reggaeton song."

Tini's Argentine heritage has also inspired her music. For example, on her third album, she used a poem with tango. She explained that in Argentina, people listen to cumbia a lot. "On '22' we did a mix of cumbia and reggaeton. And, 'Duele' is very similar because tango represents Argentina. The song is a mix of tango and trap, which I had not done before. Those two songs represent the Argentine heritage."

Influences

Even before she became famous with Disney, Tini was a fan of Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, and Selena Gomez. Like her, they were successful Disney Channel stars who later became singers. The media sometimes asked if she would follow their sometimes controversial paths. Tini said that everyone does what they like and follows their own road. She would not follow the exact same path as other Disney stars.

As Tini became a more experienced singer, she found other inspirations. According to Billboard, her biggest influences are Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, and Shakira. In 2019, she told Seventeen magazine that Beyoncé was her biggest influence. "She's awesome, I love her. I love everything she does, her music, her shows are amazing, how she dances [...] I like that you can see how she is present in the smallest details." Tini has also said she would love to work with Beyoncé.

Tini has also praised Spanish musician Alejandro Sanz, with whom she sang "Un Beso en Madrid." She called this a "dream come true." She also called Puerto Rican musician Daddy Yankee a "teacher" and said working with him would be a "dream." She grew up listening to both artists and said they influenced her Latin music.

Personal Life

Tini lives in San Isidro, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Because of her music career, she also spends a lot of time in Los Angeles, California, and Miami, Florida, where she has apartments. She speaks Spanish (her first language), Italian, and English.

Tini has shared that she has struggled with anxiety and panic attacks. She said it was very hard for her to go back on stage. She has also been in therapy and often takes her therapist with her when she tours. Tini has six dogs, some of whom she adopted from a dog shelter.

Relationships

In 2013, Tini started dating Argentine actor Peter Lanzani. They broke up in April 2015 but got back together that summer. They split again in December 2015.

In September 2016, Tini announced she was dating Spanish model Pepe Barroso Silva. He was in her music video for "Great Escape." They broke up in February 2018 but got back together in May 2018. On December 22, 2018, Tini announced they had split again.
