Soy Luna (which means I am Luna in English) is a popular TV show from Argentina and Mexico. It's a telenovela, which is like a long soap opera, made by Disney Channel Latin America. The show first aired on March 14, 2016, and its last episode was on August 17, 2018.

The first episode of Soy Luna was a huge hit. It had over 2.3 million viewers in Argentina alone! The series was created by Disney Channel Latin America and Disney Channel Europe, the Middle East and Africa. It stars Karol Sevilla as Luna, along with Ruggero Pasquarelli, Valentina Zenere, and Michael Ronda. Many other talented actors also joined the cast throughout the show's three seasons.

In May 2017, it was announced that the show would have a third and final season. This last season started on April 16, 2018. After the very last episode, Disney showed a special documentary called Soy Luna: The Journey. This documentary shared the actors' most memorable moments from their three years on the show. Later, in November 2020, another special called Soy Luna: El último concierto was announced. It came out on Disney+ on February 26, 2021.

About the Story

Season 1: New Beginnings (2016)

The story begins with Luna Valente, a 16-year-old girl who loves to rollerskate. She lives in Cancún, Mexico, with her adoptive parents. Her parents work for a rich family, and Luna works as a delivery girl with her best friend, Simon. One day, while delivering, she bumps into a boy named Matteo. He calls her "Delivery Girl," and she calls him "Rich Boy."

Luna's life changes completely when the mansion's owner, Sharon Benson, arrives. Luna has a bad first meeting with Sharon's goddaughter, Ambar. Ambar pushes Luna into a pool with her skates on, but Matteo, who is Ambar's boyfriend, saves her. Sharon is happy with Luna's parents' work. She offers them more money and a chance for Luna to go to a great school if they move to her mansion in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Luna has to leave her friends and old life behind. But things get better when she finds a roller skating rink called Jam & Roller. Here, she rediscovers her love for freestyle skate-dancing. At the rink, she meets new friends like Nina, Jim, and Yam. She also gets a job as a skating rink assistant. However, she also faces challenges at her new school. Ambar, who is very popular, tries to make Luna's life difficult. Ambar's friends, Delfi and Jazmin, often help her.

Luna's best friend, Simon, decides to follow her to Argentina. He forms a band called the Roller Band with Nico and Pedro, who work at the Jam & Roller. Luna also starts to like Matteo, who is also very popular at school.

Meanwhile, Sharon Benson is worried about her past. She finds out that her niece, Sol Benson, might still be alive. Many years ago, Sharon burned down the mansion. This fire led to the deaths of her sister Lili and Lili's husband, Bernie, whom Sharon secretly loved. Sharon thought Sol, Lili and Bernie's daughter, also died in the fire. As the closest relative, Sharon took over Lili and Bernie's fortune. With her assistant, Rey, she tries to find out who Sol Benson is and where she is.

Years ago, a worker named Roberto helped baby Sol Benson escape the fire. He left her at an orphanage in Mexico City. Monica and Miguel Valente adopted her and named her Luna because of a special pendant she wore. Fate brings Luna back to her birth home, but she doesn't know it.

Roberto dies in a hospital, but he gives the "sun" part of Sol's special medallion to two clumsy hospital workers, Tino and Cato. He asks them to find the Benson family and return it to Sol. Sharon and Rey investigate, not knowing Luna is Sol Benson. They realize Tino and Cato aren't a threat, so they hire them to keep them close. Tino and Cato try to complete their mission. Cato also falls in love with Amanda, the housemaid.

Other stories unfold too. The Roller Band becomes popular. Nina, Luna's new best friend, creates an anonymous online account called "FelicityForNow" to share her true thoughts. She also likes Gaston, Matteo's best friend. Jim and Yam are best friends who do everything together. They both like Ramiro, a confident guy who wants to be a professional skater and rapper. But Jim starts to like Nico, and Ramiro falls for Yam. Ambar's friends, Jazmin and Delfi, have their own channel called "Fab'n'Chic." Delfi likes Gaston but later becomes a better person when she gets closer to Pedro.

Luna has to manage her new life, school, friendships, and her feelings. She also tries to understand strange dreams about her past and future.

Season 2: Uncovering Secrets (2017)

After the holidays, everyone returns. Luna is excited to see Matteo, but he's hiding a secret: he plans to go to Oxford next year. Luna is determined to find out what's bothering him. She helps Matteo discover his true passion, and he learns to deal with his demanding father.

At the Benson mansion, things are tense. Sharon's father, Alfredo, arrives. His presence brings back old memories and changes their routine. Luna feels a strong connection to Alfredo, who is funny and kind. This is because Alfredo is actually Luna's biological grandfather. Their bond, with Nina's help, guides Luna to explore her past.

Meanwhile, the Jam & Roller is bought by Vidia, an online platform that wants to show the rink to the world. Tamara, the instructor, leaves and puts Luna in charge. During a "Roller Jam" party, Ambar damages the cameras, causing the place to burn down.

Everyone works together to rebuild the rink. Vidia isn't interested anymore, but Nina's father, Ricardo, saves the Jam & Roller. He designs a new app that's even better than Vidia's. The rink is saved, and they get a new instructor, Juliana. She's strict and uses a cane because she was once a famous skater named Marissa Mint, whose career ended after an accident. Juliana won a special award called The Glass Skate, but she keeps her past a secret.

Rey and Sharon discover that Luna is Sol Benson after Rey investigates her. To protect their fortune, they make Ambar pretend to be Sol Benson.

The older students, Ambar, Jazmin, Delfi, Gastón, Ramiro, and Matteo, are finishing school and deciding their futures. Ambar plans to study business and law in Paris, like Sharon. Delfi wants to follow her passion for photography, and Jazmin is unsure. Matteo decides to become a professional musician, standing up to his father. Gaston plans to go to Oxford. Ramiro wants to make a living from skating and rapping. Delfi and Jazmin eventually stop being friends with Ambar when they realize she's just using them.

Ambar starts getting closer to Simon to hurt Luna. But as they spend more time together, Ambar and Simon begin to fall in love.

New characters arrive. Benicio, an old enemy of Simon's from Cancun, appears. He was untrustworthy and blamed Simon for stealing money. Benicio tries to take Simon's spot in the Roller Band, but Juliana stops him. Benicio teams up with Ambar, and they break Juliana's Glass Skate. Benicio is caught and kicked out, but he doesn't tell on Ambar.

Nico's uncle, Garry, a former surfer and businessman, becomes a part-owner of the Jam & Roller. He wants to change its name to his surf team's name, Red Sharks. The Roller team enters a new competition, Roda Fest, where they meet their rivals, The Sliders.

Both The Sliders and The Jam & Roller make it to the finals in Cancun. Simon discovers that Ambar caused the fire and broke Juliana's Glass Skate. Sharon uses her influence to protect Ambar from legal trouble. Ambar is kicked off the team, so she joins forces with Emilia, the leader of The Sliders, to try and ruin the Roller team.

Alfredo finds out Luna is Sol Benson, but Sharon sends him to a special care facility. She also fires Tino and Cato. Cato then proposes to Amanda, and she says yes. Sharon discovers Rey was trying to blackmail her about Luna's true identity. Sharon fires him, but Rey helps Alfredo escape and gives him proof that Luna is Sol.

The Jam & Roller competes against The Sliders at Roda Fest. The Sliders win, but Luna wins the Glass Skate for the Jam & Roller. Luna then learns about her past with Alfredo's help. Sharon escapes, telling Ambar to lie and say she knew nothing. Luna, now knowing she is Sol Benson, feels distant from Matteo. Gary decides that the Jam & Roller will no longer exist, and it becomes the Red Sharks.

Season 3: The Final Chapter (2018)

Luna/Sol returns to the Benson mansion in Argentina with her adoptive parents and her grandfather. The mansion is now theirs. Ambar changes her style to gothic and becomes very dark after the events of the previous seasons. A new boy named Erik falls in love with Nina, and they become a couple. Luna and Matteo grow closer, but Emilia tries to keep them apart. This leads to Matteo having a serious accident that puts him in the hospital. He wakes up with some memory loss.

The Roller Band gets kicked out of their apartment and moves into Luna's house. A new boy named Michel also moves in. He becomes interested in Luna, and they get very close, which makes Matteo jealous. Later, Michel gets an offer to study in Rome, Italy. He asks Luna to help him decide, and it becomes clear to Luna that she still loves Matteo. Michel leaves for Rome and tells Luna to fight for Matteo's love. Simon tells Matteo that Luna was never in love with Michel and that she loves him. After hearing this, Matteo tells Luna he loves her, and they get back together happily.

Meanwhile, Sharon wants revenge on her father and the Valente family. She returns to Buenos Aires in different disguises. Later in the season, Ambar goes back to her normal style, changes her attitude, and becomes a couple with Simon. In the big series finale, the Roller team performs the song "Todo Puede Cambiar." Luna and Matteo are together again. Ambar, Delfi, and Jazmin make up and become friends again. At the end, Luna celebrates her 18th birthday and sings the song "Soy Yo" at her party, which concludes the series.
