Story of Violetta
Season 1: Discovering Her Talent
Violetta Castillo is a 17-year-old girl. She doesn't know she has an amazing talent for singing. She got this talent from her mom, María, who was a famous singer. Sadly, her mom died in a car accident. Her dad, Germán (played by Diego Ramos), is a very successful businessman. He travels a lot and loves Violetta very much. But he is also very strict and protective. Because he was so sad about his wife's death, he kept Violetta's past and her mother's singing career a secret. He worried Violetta might want to become a singer too.
After the accident, Violetta and Germán moved to Madrid. Germán raised her alone, and she didn't have many friends her age. Germán knew Violetta was musical and encouraged her to take piano lessons. But he always kept her away from singing.
Everything changes when they move back to Buenos Aires. There, Violetta starts taking piano lessons at a famous music school called 'Studio 21'. Later, it's renamed On Beat Studio. She meets Angie (María Clara Alonso), who becomes her new teacher and governess. Secretly, Angie is Violetta's aunt, her mother's sister. Germán doesn't know this. Angie helps Violetta discover her singing talent. Angie is afraid that if she tells Violetta or Germán the truth, Germán might take Violetta away again.
Violetta falls in love with Tomás (Pablo Espinosa). But her new best friend, Francesca (Lodovica Comello), also likes him. Ludmila (Mercedes Lambre), who is the richest and most arrogant girl at Studio 21, also likes Tomás. This makes León (Jorge Blanco), Ludmila's old boyfriend, angry. Later, Ludmila and Tomás start dating. León gets upset and decides to pretend to date Violetta to get back at Ludmila and Tomás. But he actually starts to fall for Violetta, and she starts to like him too. This makes Tomás and Ludmila even more annoyed.
Germán is engaged to Jade (Florencia Benitez). Jade is not very smart but she is very ambitious. She doesn't like Violetta. Jade wants to marry Germán because she truly loves him. But her older brother, Matías, wants her to marry Germán for his money because he is broke. Violetta never agrees with this and often argues with Jade. Later, Jade finds out that Violetta is secretly studying music at Studio 21. Jade tries to make a deal with Violetta: if Violetta helps Jade marry Germán, Jade won't tell Germán Violetta's secret.
In the end, Germán finds out that Violetta is studying at the Studio. He also learns that Angie is Violetta's aunt and has been helping Violetta all along. Germán decides to take Violetta away. But thanks to Angie, he finally understands how much Violetta loves music. He decides to stay in Buenos Aires and lets Violetta continue at Studio 21. Tomás goes back to Spain to pursue his music career. Ludmila seems to make peace with everyone. León promises himself to forget Violetta.
Season 2: New Loves and Challenges
In the second season, Violetta and León start to fall in love. They begin dating. But a new student at Studio 21, Diego (Diego Domínguez), kisses Violetta. Ludmila is still a mean and glamorous girl. She tries to get what she wants by any means. She even blackmails Diego. She tells him to pretend he loves Violetta. If he does, she will tell him who his father is, who left him when he was young.
Marco tries to date Francesca, who is unsure about her feelings for him. Camila and Broadway start the season arguing but become friends. Camila meets DJ, who likes her, but he leaves. Camila and Maxi kiss but don't feel anything. Sebas (from Rock Bones) comes along, and they fall in love and get together. Naty, Ludmila's best friend, and Maxi also break up at first but get back together strongly. Francesca falls in love with Marco (Xabiani Ponce de León), who is Diego's best friend. Ludmila starts to fall for Federico (Ruggero Pasquarelli) and they become a couple.
Diego finds out that his father is Gregorio, a selfish teacher at the Studio. Diego is very angry because Gregorio abandoned him as a child. In the end, they make peace. Angie goes to France, leaving Germán alone. Jade and Matías hire Esmeralda to trick Germán and steal his money. But on their wedding day, Jade reveals that Esmeralda is a fraud. Esmeralda and Matías are arrested. Matías then starts dating the police officer who arrested him, Marcela Parodi.
León suspects Diego all along. He finds proof that Diego and Ludmila were working together to make Violetta sad and embarrassed during her big performance. They planned to reveal that Diego never loved Violetta. León shows the video proof on his cellphone to Francesca, but Violetta overhears. Violetta starts crying during her performance and can't sing. However, León gets on stage and sings "Podemos" with Violetta. Camila and Broadway get back together. Francesca and Marco also reunite after some issues with Marco's ex-girlfriend. Violetta and León get back together, and their love is stronger than ever.
Season 3: Final Year and Big Decisions
After their successful world tour in Europe, the Studio On Beat cast returns to Buenos Aires for their last year of school. Their dreams and ambitions grow, but the group starts to have problems, putting Studio On Beat in danger. New characters are introduced: Gery, who falls in love with León, and Clément (also known as Alex), who falls in love with Violetta.
Violetta and Ludmila are forced to live together when Germán starts dating Priscilla, Ludmila's mother. Germán and Priscilla later get married. But Priscilla turns out to be a very mean person. Violetta and León separate but still love each other. Alex and Gery try everything to keep them apart because they both like Violetta and León.
Marco leaves, and Francesca and Diego fall in love. However, Francesca is afraid to tell Violetta, because Diego feels bad about what he did to Violetta in the previous season. So, they keep their relationship a secret. Antonio, the previous director of Studio 21, passes away. Pablo leaves Studio On Beat after the You Mix sponsorship ends. The studio slowly starts to lose money. It's up to Gregorio, the new director, Angie (who returns this season), and Beto, with Germán's help, to save the studio.
Ludmila starts to become a better person. When she has to choose between staying at Studio On Beat or becoming a big star, she chooses the Studio. To spy on León, Violetta and Francesca pretend to be Roxy and Fausta. But León falls in love with Roxy, and Violetta has to tell him the truth. The group travels to Seville, Spain. There, Violetta and León realize their true feelings for each other. Gery and Clement end up together. In Seville, they perform their last amazing show. After their final songs, Germán proposes to Angie. The series ends with Germán marrying Angie back in Buenos Aires, with everyone singing "Crecimos Juntos."

How Violetta Was Made

Disney Channel Latin America had success with other Argentine TV dramas like Floricienta and Patito Feo. Also, Nickelodeon Latin America had good results co-producing shows like Grachi. Because of this, Disney decided to make its own original TV drama. Violetta was produced in Argentina with a local company called Pol-Ka. The actors came from many different countries, including Hispanic America, Brazil, Spain, and Italy.
Filming for Violetta started in September 2011 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It took seven months to film the first season. The show was made together by Disney Channel Latin America, Europe, Middle East, and Africa. All the filming was done in high definition at the Central Park Studios in Buenos Aires.
On December 31, 2011, Disney Channel Latin America aired a New Year's special called Celebratón. During this show, Martina Stoessel sang the song Tu Resplandor. Disney Channel announced that Violetta would premiere in 2012. The cast was first introduced on December 22, 2011. In March 2012, commercials and ads for the series started to air.
In early April 2012, a music video for the song "En Mi Mundo" was put on Disney Channel Latin America's website. Martina Stoessel sang this song. Violetta finally premiered in Latin America and Italy on May 14, 2012. The cast visited Mexico City and Bogotá. They also sang live at a Radio Disney event in Luna Park in Buenos Aires. The last episode of the first season aired on October 25. Between September and October 2012, the show also premiered in Brazil, France, Israel, and Spain.
Filming for the second season began on November 1, 2012. The second season started in Latin America in April, in Italy in June, and in Spain in September. The whole cast visited Paris, Milan, and Madrid for promotion in late June. The final scenes of the second season were filmed in Spain.
Many products came from the show, like an official magazine and sticker albums. There were also books and trading cards. DVDs of the show were released in Italy and Spain. A soundtrack album with music from the show was also released. This album sold very well, earning multiple Platinum and Gold awards in different countries.
In June 2013, after three months of practice, a musical show with the full cast started. It debuted at Teatro Gran Rex in Buenos Aires. The cast performed concerts daily during the Winter Vacation. Before the first show, all 60 performances were already sold out. Over 200,000 tickets were sold. After their shows in Buenos Aires, the cast also toured other parts of Argentina, Latin America, and Europe.
In October 2013, Diego Ramos announced that there would be a third season. Production for the third season began in March 2014. It premiered on July 28, 2014. This was the final season of the show.
Choosing the Actors
Martina Stoessel was chosen for the main role after auditions. The actor Diego Ramos was asked to play Violetta's father. After an audition sent to Europe, he was confirmed for the role. Lodovica Comello, who plays Francesca, was attending school in Milan when her principal told students about an audition. She decided to try out. Ruggero Pasquarelli was also chosen for his role.
For the second season, auditions were held in Milan, Naples, and Rome because fans of the series asked for them. Most of the cast from the first season returned for the second season. The only main actors who did not return were Rodrigo Velilla, Artur Logunov, and Pablo Espinosa. New characters were also added. These included Diego Domínguez, who played León's new rival, Diego. Other new actors were Valeria Baroni, Xabiani Ponce De León, Paloma Sirvén, Gerardo Velázquez, Carla Pandolfi, and Valentina Frione. The American singer Bridgit Mendler also made a special guest appearance in the second season.
For the third season, new characters were played by Damien Lauretta, Macarena Miguel, Rodrigo Frampton, Florencia Ortiz, and Nacho Gadano. The American pop rock band R5 also appeared in an episode during the third season. They performed their song "Heart Made Up on You."

Magazine and Stickers
Starting October 10, 2012, the official Violetta magazine was available in Italy. This monthly magazine had interviews, new photos from the series, games, posters, and articles for girls. In Argentina, a magazine with the same content as the Italian one was also published. In Chile, it could be bought from December 21, 2012. Portugal and Spain also had a monthly magazine about the TV drama.
On the same day the magazine was released, a sticker album was also published. You could buy it with the magazine or separately. The album was published by Panini.
Video Game and Other Products
A Violetta video game was released, called Disney Violetta: Rhythm & Music. The song "Junto A Ti" is also featured in the game Just Dance 2016.
Other products related to Violetta were also sold, such as Easter eggs and notebooks in Brazil. The Italian actor Simon Lijoi created a special section called "Chiedilo a Simone" (Ask Simone). Fans could ask him questions on his Facebook page, and he would answer them. The first article was published on March 22, 2013, and new ones were published every Thursday.
