Lodovica Comello (born on April 13, 1990) is a talented Italian actress, TV host, singer, and dancer. She became famous around the world for playing "Francesca" in the Disney Channel TV series Violetta.

Her Early Life

Lodovica Comello grew up in San Daniele del Friuli, a town near Udine in Italy. From a young age, she loved art, acting, dancing, and playing the guitar. She started guitar lessons when she was 8 years old.

In high school, she studied music and spent her free time dancing and acting. After finishing high school in 2008, she went to a drama school in Milan, Italy, called M.A.S.: Music Arts & Show. She studied there from 2009 to 2011. In 2009, she joined the "Il Mondo di Patty" tour, which was the Italian version of a popular kids' show from Argentina called Patito Feo. She performed in concerts in Italy and Spain.

Acting Adventures

While studying in Milan, Lodovica heard that Disney Channel Latin America was looking for Italian actors who could also speak Spanish. Even though she didn't speak much Spanish, she learned a short speech and performed it for her audition. A week later, she got a role in Violetta, Disney's new musical TV series for teens.

In 2011, Lodovica was chosen to play "Francesca," the main character's best friend. To film the show, she moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina, in mid-2011. She quickly learned Spanish once she started working on the series.

In November 2012, she filmed the second season of Violetta in Buenos Aires and Barcelona, Spain. It first aired on April 29, 2013. That same year, she also lent her voice to the character "Britney" in the Italian version of the movie Monster's University.

Lodovica returned to film the third and final season of Violetta in March 2014. The show finished filming in November 2014 and the last season began airing in Argentina on July 28, 2014. The very last episode aired on February 6, 2015.

In August 2016, Lodovica joined the cast of an Italian comedy film called Poveri ma ricchi (which means "Poor but rich"). This movie was filmed in Rome and Milan and came out in Italian cinemas on December 15, 2016. This was Lodovica's first movie role and her first live-action acting job since Violetta ended.

Music Journey

First Albums: Universo and Mariposa

On November 1, 2013, Lodovica released "Universo" (meaning "Universe"), which was the first song from her first album with the same name. The album came out on November 19, 2013, in Italy, Spain, and Argentina. It had nine songs that Lodovica helped write, plus one English cover song.

In May 2014, Lodovica announced that she planned to go on a world tour in 2015. Fans could vote online for cities where she might perform concerts.

Lodovica started writing songs for her second album in 2014 while filming the last season of Violetta. She recorded new music in Buenos Aires on weekends. On January 24, 2015, she told her fans that her second album, Mariposa (meaning "Butterfly"), would be released on February 3, 2015, in Italy. The album had 12 songs in Spanish, Italian, and English.

Lodovica did not join the 2015 world tour with the Violetta cast. Instead, she focused on promoting her own music as a solo artist. Her world tour started in Rome with two sold-out shows on February 1, 2015. She toured all over Italy and also performed in Spain, Belgium, Poland, Portugal, and France.

The first song from Mariposa, called "Todo El Resto No Cuenta," was released on January 30, 2015. The music video for it came out the next day. The album reached number 13 on the Italian Album charts. The second song from Mariposa, "Sin usar palabras," featured Spanish singer Abraham Mateo. Lodovica also released a Polish version of this song with Szymon Chodyniecki. Her world tour for Mariposa ended on October 25, 2015, in Naples, Italy.

On May 13, 2016, Lodovica released the Italian song "Non cadiamo mai" (meaning "Never Fall"). This was the first song from her next album. Lodovica helped write the song, and a Spanish version was also planned.

On December 12, 2016, it was announced that Lodovica would take part in the 2017 Sanremo Music Festival. This is a very important music festival in Italy. The winner often gets to represent Italy in Eurovision. She sang the song Il cielo non-mi basta. The festival took place from February 7 to 11, 2017. Lodovica finished in 12th place out of 16 finalists. The music video for Il cielo non-mi basta, directed by her husband, was released on February 8, 2017. This song was her first single to appear on the Italian music charts. On May 5, 2017, she released her second single, "50 Shades of Colours." She performed three concerts in Italy to promote her new music.

Other Cool Projects

On April 2, 2015, Lodovica released her autobiography, Tutto il resto non-conta: la musica, Buenos Aires, e un pollo al curry con chi dico io, in Italy. She wrote the book while living in Buenos Aires during the filming of Violetta's last season. To promote her book, Lodovica did several book signings across Italy. The book was later translated into Polish, and she had a signing in Warsaw, Poland, on May 9, 2015.

In September 2015, Lodovica was announced as the new host for the seventh season of Italia's Got Talent. The show started airing on March 16, 2016. Lodovica also hosts a music game show called "Singing in the Car," which started on September 5, 2016.

She is also the host of "Kid's Got Talent," which is a spin-off show from "Italia's Got Talent." This show for kids first aired on December 18, 2016.

Her Personal Life

Lodovica Comello has an older sister named Ilaria. She can speak Italian, Spanish, and English very well. She lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina, for three years while working on Violetta. After the show finished filming in November 2014, she moved back to Milan, Italy.

In 2012, Lodovica met Tomas Goldschmidt, an Argentine TV producer, on the set of Violetta. They dated for four years and got married in a small ceremony in San Daniele del Friuli, Italy, on April 1, 2015.

In November 2019, Lodovica announced on Instagram that she and her husband were expecting their first child, a boy. Their son, Teo Goldschmidt, was born in Milan on March 16, 2020.
