Early Life and First Steps in Show Business
Lodovica Comello was born and grew up in San Daniele del Friuli, a town near Udine, Italy. From a young age, she loved art, acting, dancing, and playing the guitar. She started taking guitar lessons when she was only eight years old.
After high school, she moved to Milan to study at a drama school called M.A.S.: Music Arts & Show from 2009 to 2011. In 2009, she got a job as a performer on the "Il Mondo di Patty" tour. This was the Italian version of a popular kids' show from Argentina called Patito Feo. The tour performed in Italy and Spain.
Acting Career
Starring in Violetta
While studying in Milan, Lodovica heard that Disney Channel Latin America was looking for Italian actors who could also speak Spanish. Even though she didn't know much Spanish, she memorized a short speech for her audition. A week later, she got the part of Francesca in the musical TV series Violetta.
To film the show, Lodovica had to move to Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 2011. There, she learned to speak Spanish fluently. She played Francesca, the best friend of the main character, for all three seasons of the show. The final episode of Violetta aired in Latin America on February 6, 2015.
Movie Roles
In 2013, Lodovica did the Italian voice for the character Britney in the movie Monster's University.
After Violetta ended, she starred in her first live-action movie, an Italian comedy called Poveri ma ricchi ("Poor but Rich"). The movie came out in 2016 and was filmed in Rome and Milan.
Music Career
First Two Albums: Universo and Mariposa
On November 1, 2013, Lodovica released her first single, "Universo" ("Universe"). Her first album, also called Universo, came out later that month. It had songs she helped write in both Spanish and Italian.
In 2015, she released her second album, Mariposa ("Butterfly"). To focus on her solo music, she did not join the final Violetta cast tour. Instead, she started her own world tour, called the Lodovica World Tour. She performed in many countries, including Italy, Spain, Poland, and Portugal.
New Music and Sanremo Festival
In 2016, Lodovica released a new Italian song called "Non cadiamo mai" ("We Never Fall").
The next year, she competed in the Sanremo Music Festival, a very famous music contest in Italy. She sang her song Il cielo non-mi basta ("The Sky Is Not Enough for Me") and finished in 12th place. She also released more singles, like "50 Shades of Colours" and "Run".
Other Projects
In 2015, Lodovica released her autobiography, a book about her life called Tutto il resto non-conta ("All the Rest Doesn't Matter"). She wrote it while filming the last season of Violetta in Buenos Aires.
She has also hosted several TV shows in Italy. From 2016 to 2022, she was the host of Italia's Got Talent. She also hosted a kids' version of the show called "Kid's Got Talent" and a musical game show called "Singing in the Car".
Personal Life
Lodovica has an older sister named Ilaria. She can speak Italian, Spanish, and English.
While working on Violetta, she met an Argentine TV producer named Tomas Goldschmidt. They got married in a small ceremony in her hometown in Italy on April 1, 2015. In March 2020, their son, Teo, was born in Milan.
