Early Life and First Steps in Music
David Bisbal was born on June 5, 1979, in Almería, Spain. His father, José Bisbal, was a professional boxer and also a flamenco musician. His mother is Maria Ferre Montoya. David is the youngest of three children.
When he was a child, David was very good at performing. However, he was also very shy about performing in front of people.
David went to high school in Almería. But he left school when he was about 15 years old. After leaving school, he worked with his father in a greenhouse. A few years later, he met the producer of Orchestra Expressions. This was a popular band in Almería. The producer heard David sing and was very impressed. He offered David a job as the band's main singer.
Working with Orchestra Expressions helped David become a better singer. He also discovered how much he loved music. In 2001, he tried out for Operación Triunfo in Barcelona, Spain. This show was like 'Pop Idol' and aimed to choose Spain's representative for the 'Eurovision' festival. David was one of 16 contestants and finished in second place. He later performed at Eurovision as a backing singer for the winner, Rosa López.
