María Laura Corradini Falomir (born June 25, 1975), known as Chenoa, is a singer and songwriter from Argentina and Spain. She became famous after competing in the TV singing show Operación Triunfo. Her music is mostly pop, and she sings in Spanish. She has sold over 1,000,000 records since 2002.

Early Life and Start in Music

Chenoa was born in Mar del Plata, Argentina, on June 25, 1975. When she was eight, her family moved to Mallorca, Spain. Her parents were both musicians who sang in hotels.

When Chenoa was 16, she started singing professionally with her parents. She even filled in for her mother when she was sick. Chenoa's family has roots in Italy and Lebanon.

She studied to become a nursery school teacher. At age 20, she began performing at the Casino de Mallorca. This helped her gain confidence on stage before joining Operación Triunfo in 2001.

Music Career Highlights

Her first album, Chenoa, came out in April 2002 in Spain. The song Cuando tú vas was a big hit that summer. This album sold over 500,000 copies in Spain. Chenoa was nominated for music awards as a new artist. In 2003, she won Eurobest, a European singing contest, with the song "It's Raining Men".

Her second album, Mis canciones favoritas, was recorded live in Barcelona in 2003. It included some of her favorite songs like "Man in The Mirror".

Her second studio album, Soy mujer, was recorded in Miami and Madrid in 2003. This album mixed pop, rock, Latin, and Arab sounds. It reached number one in Spain and sold over 250,000 copies. The song "Dame" was number one in Spain for three weeks in 2004. She toured Spain with over 80 shows.

In 2005, Chenoa received the Micrófono de Oro award in Spain. She also won the Mara de Oro award in Venezuela for Best New International Artist.

Chenoa's third studio album, Nada es igual, was released in November 2005. This album showed a new pop-rock style for her music. The first song, "Rutinas", reached number one in Spain. The album sold over 100,000 copies.

On October 9, 2007, Chenoa released her fifth studio album, Absurda Cenicienta. She wrote all the songs on this album herself. The first song, "Todo irá bien", became a number one hit in 12 countries.

In 2009, she released the album Desafiando la gravedad. She co-wrote most of the songs on this album too. It featured songs like "Buenas Noticias" and "Nada de Nada". The album also included "Duele," a powerful song about heartbreak.

In 2011, Chenoa joined Italian singer Andrea Bocelli on his World Tour. Later that year, she released an EP called Como un fantasma.

From 2012 to 2013, Chenoa was part of the Spanish radio morning show Atrévete.

In 2013, she released her sixth studio album, Otra dirección, in both English and Spanish. She wrote all the Spanish lyrics herself. The album was recorded in London, Madrid, and Barcelona.

On April 1, 2016, Chenoa released her seventh studio album, #SoyHumana. She wrote almost all the lyrics for this album. It was produced in Majorca, Spain. The main song was "Soy Humana". She toured for two years with this album.

In 2024, she sang with Ana Guerra on the song "Me Quiero Más a Mí".

Current Projects

  • Chenoa is a coach on the Spanish TV show Tu cara me suena (which means Your Face Sounds Familiar).
  • Since 2022, she hosts a late-night show called 'Take it less seriously' (Tómatelo menos en serio) on Europa FM.
  • She presented Operación Triunfo 2023, a Spanish TV music competition, which aired on Amazon Prime Video in November 2023.
  • In 2024, Chenoa will be a contestant on the fourth season of El Desafío (The Challenge).

Personal Life

From 2001 to 2005, Chenoa was in a relationship with singer David Bisbal.

On June 17, 2022, she married Miguel Sánchez Encinas in a private ceremony in Mallorca. It was reported that they separated on November 11, 2023.
