Rebbeca Marie Gomez (born March 2, 1997), who is known by her stage name Becky G, is an American singer and actress. She grew up in Inglewood, California, and became famous in 2011 by posting videos of herself singing popular songs on YouTube.
One of her videos was noticed by the music producer Dr. Luke. He signed her to his record label, Kemosabe Records. Soon after, Becky G started working with famous artists like will.i.am, Cody Simpson, and Cher Lloyd.
In 2014, she released the song "Shower", which became a huge hit. It reached the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States. This success helped her become a well-known artist. She later began releasing music in Spanish, which was also very successful.
Her Spanish-language albums, like Mala Santa (2019) and Esquemas (2022), have been very popular. Her song "Mamiii" with Karol G became her highest-charting song on the Billboard Hot 100. She has also acted in movies, including Power Rangers (2017).

Life and Career
1997–2011: How She Got Started
Rebbeca Marie Gomez was born on March 2, 1997, in Inglewood, California. Her parents are Francisco and Alejandra Gomez, and all four of her grandparents came from Jalisco, Mexico. She is the oldest of four children, with two brothers and a younger sister.
When Becky was nine, her family faced money problems and had to move into her grandparents' garage. To help her family, she started working in commercials and doing voice-over work. At this young age, she decided she wanted to be a singer. She said she had a "mid-life crisis" at nine and knew she had to figure out her future.
Because she was working in entertainment, she was sometimes bullied at school. To avoid this, she was homeschooled.
In 2009, she joined a girl group called G.L.A.M. and later a duo called B.C.G. Around this time, she began posting videos of herself singing and rapping on YouTube. She taught herself to play guitar at age 13. Her cover of the song "Otis" got the attention of producer Dr. Luke. He was very impressed and signed her to his record label.
2012–2015: First Big Hits
In 2012, Becky G released her first song, "Problem," with will.i.am. A remix of the song was used in the movie Hotel Transylvania. She also worked with other artists, including Cody Simpson and Cher Lloyd. Her song with Cher Lloyd, "Oath", was her first to appear on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.
In 2013, she released "Becky from the Block". The song was a new version of a Jennifer Lopez hit, and Lopez even appeared in the music video. Later that year, she released her first EP, Play It Again.

In 2019, Becky G released her first studio album, Mala Santa. The album was a huge success and included hit singles like "Mayores" with Bad Bunny and "Sin Pijama" with Natti Natasha. The music videos for both songs have been viewed over 2 billion times on YouTube. The album reached the top five on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart.
She also collaborated with J-Hope from the K-pop group BTS on the song "Chicken Noodle Soup". The song included lyrics in English, Spanish, and Korean. In November 2019, she hosted the MTV Europe Music Awards in Spain.

In 2016, she began a relationship with American soccer player Sebastian Lletget. They announced their engagement in December 2022.
