Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija (born June 15, 1999), known as Peso Pluma, is a Mexican singer and musician. He learned to play the guitar when he was a teenager. He started writing songs inspired by regional Mexican music.
Peso Pluma became very popular with his songs like "Por Las Noches" and "El Belicón". His collaborations with Natanael Cano, "AMG" and "PRC", became huge hits. In 2023, his song "Ella Baila Sola" with Eslabon Armado made history. It was the first regional Mexican song to reach the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Early Life and Music Start
Hassan Kabande Laija was born on June 15, 1999. He was born in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico. His parents are Hassan Kabande and Rubi Laija. His father is of Lebanese descent.
He grew up in Guadalajara. He started playing the guitar at age 15. He learned by watching videos on YouTube. Peso Pluma began writing songs in a diary. He said writing became a way to express himself. He kept practicing and got better over time.
Music Career Beginnings (2020–2021)
Peso Pluma worked with his cousin, Roberto "Tito" Laija Garcia. They released two live albums in 2020. These were Disco en Vivo and Disco en Vivo, Vol. 2. They featured recordings of his performances.
His first studio album, Ah y Qué?, came out on April 20, 2020. It had twelve songs. He then released singles like "Relajado Voy" and "Mil Historias". In 2021, he released his second album, Efectos Secundarios. He also released the single "Por Las Noches". This song was about a breakup. He then moved to a new record label, Prajin Records.
Big Success (2022)
On February 4, 2022, Peso Pluma released "El Belicón" with Raul Vega. This song became his first to appear on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart.
He released an extended play (EP) called Sembrando on April 20. It included "Signal" and five new songs. Later that year, he released "El Gavilán" with Tony Aguirre. He also released "Ando Enfocado" with Jaziel Aviles.
Peso Pluma teamed up with Natanael Cano and Gabito Ballesteros. They released "AMG" on November 24. This song quickly became popular. He also worked with Alemán on "Delivery".
Mainstream Fame and Génesis (2023)
"AMG" became a top-ten hit in Mexico in January 2023. It also entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This was Peso Pluma's first song on that chart. He started his tour in Mexico in January.
He released "PRC" with Natanael Cano on January 23. This song also became a Hot 100 hit. On March 9, he released "El Hechizo" with Ovy on the Drums.
The song "Ella Baila Sola" with Eslabon Armado was released on March 16. It quickly became a huge hit. It was the first regional Mexican song to reach number one on the Spotify Global chart. It also reached the top 5 on the Hot 100 chart. This was a big moment for regional Mexican music.
Peso Pluma also joined Yng Lvcas for a remix of "La Bebé". This song also charted on the Hot 100. He had many songs on the Hot 100 at the same time. This set a record for a Mexican artist. He announced his Doble P Tour across the United States.
He collaborated with Becky G on the song "Chanel". They performed it at Coachella. Peso Pluma launched his own record label, Double P Records, on April 20. He signed artists like Tito, Vega, and Jasiel Nuñez.
He performed "Ella Baila Sola" on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. This was the first time a regional Mexican artist performed on the show. His album Génesis was released on June 22. Éxodo and Recent Work (2024–present)
In 2024, Peso Pluma released "Pixelados" with Luis R. Conriquez. He was invited to the Viña del Mar International Song Festival.
He released "Igual que un Ángel" with Kali Uchis and "La Intención" with Christian Nodal. At the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, he won a Grammy for Génesis.
Peso Pluma announced his second tour, Éxodo Tour. His fourth album, Éxodo, was released on June 20, 2024. He collaborated with Tito Double P on "La People II". He also released "Humo" with Chencho Corleone.
He worked with Arcángel on "Peso Completo". He also released "La Durango" with Junior H and Eslabon Armado. He joined DJ Snake on the song "Teka".
Éxodo debuted at number five on the US Billboard 200 chart. It also topped the Top Latin Albums and Regional Mexican Albums charts. He released "Vino Tinto" with Natanael Cano. He also released "Tommy & Pamela" with Kenia Os.
In August 2024, he released "Los Cuadros" with Tito Double P. He was also featured on songs by Tito Double P and Myke Towers. His song "La Patrulla" with Netón Vega was released in September. Éxodo was nominated for another Grammy Award in 2025.
Musical Style
Peso Pluma has a unique musical style. It is mostly corridos tumbados. These are a type of corrido music mixed with Latin urban music, like Latin hip hop and reggaeton. He is seen as a big reason why corridos have become popular again.
He said his voice was "made to sing corridos". He listened to reggaeton, hip-hop, and rap growing up. He looks up to artists like Ariel Camacho and Valentín Elizalde. He also admires Canadian rapper Drake.
Many people compare his success to Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny. Peso Pluma has said that Bad Bunny is a musical inspiration for him.
Personal Life
Peso Pluma enjoys soccer. He played for youth teams of C.D. Guadalajara when he was younger. He is a big fan of Atlas F.C..
Relationships
In 2023, Peso Pluma was in a relationship with Argentine singer Nicki Nicole. Their relationship ended in February 2024. In August 2024, he confirmed a relationship with American influencer Hannah Howell. This relationship also ended the following month.
