The 66th Annual Grammy Awards celebrated the best music from October 1, 2022, to September 15, 2023. Members of The Recording Academy chose the winners. The big event happened on February 4, 2024, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

CBS broadcast the show, and you could also watch it on Paramount+. Trevor Noah hosted the Grammys for the fourth time.

The list of nominated artists was shared on November 10, 2023. SZA led with nine nominations. Victoria Monét, Phoebe Bridgers (both solo and with her group boygenius), and Serban Ghenea each received seven nominations. Victoria Monét's two-year-old daughter, Hazel, made history as the youngest Grammy nominee ever. She was featured on her mom's song "Hollywood."

Phoebe Bridgers won the most awards that night, taking home four Grammys. Taylor Swift also made history by becoming the first artist to win Album of the Year four times!

Grammy Award Changes

For the 2024 show, the Grammy Academy made some updates to how awards are given out. They also changed some rules about who can be nominated.

New Award Categories

Three exciting new categories were added to the Grammys:

  • Best African Music Performance
  • Best Alternative Jazz Album
  • Best Pop Dance Recording

In total, there are now 94 different award categories!

Voting Rule Updates

The number of nominees for the "Big Four" main awards was changed. These awards are Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist. Instead of ten nominees, there are now eight.

Also, artists, songwriters, and producers must now work on at least 20% of an album to be nominated for Album of the Year. This rule helps make sure that everyone nominated truly contributed a lot to the album.

Artificial Intelligence and Music

The Recording Academy also made a new rule about artificial intelligence (AI) in music. They said that "only human creators" can win a Grammy Award. This means that if a song or album is made completely by AI, it cannot be nominated. However, if humans helped create a song that uses AI, it can still be considered for an award.
