Early Life and Musical Beginnings
Halle Lynn Bailey was born on March 27, 2000, in Atlanta, Georgia. She grew up in Mableton, Georgia, with her older sisters, Ski and Chloe Bailey, and her younger brother, Branson. In mid-2012, her family moved to Los Angeles.
When they were children, Halle and Chloe started writing their own songs. They learned to play instruments by watching helpful videos on YouTube. Their father, Doug Bailey, who also helped manage their careers, taught them how to write songs from a young age.
Halle Bailey's Amazing Career Journey
Starting Out: From YouTube to a Record Deal (2006–2016)
Halle began acting at just three years old. While living in Georgia, she had small roles in movies like Joyful Noise (2012) and the Disney TV movie Let It Shine (2012).
Halle and Chloe started a YouTube channel when they were 11 and 13 years old. They posted cover songs, and their video covering Beyoncé's "Pretty Hurts" became very popular. They soon began performing as Chloe x Halle, sharing their music with the world. In April 2012, they made their first TV appearance on The Ellen Show. The sisters also won Season 5 of Radio Disney's The Next Big Thing in 2013 and appeared in the Disney series Austin & Ally.
In 2015, the sisters were in talks to sign with Parkwood Entertainment, a company founded by superstar Beyoncé. They officially signed in 2016. Many people, including NPR, saw them as Beyoncé's "first true musical successors." In April 2016, Chloe and Halle appeared alongside Beyoncé in her visual album Lemonade.
Rising Stars: Chloe x Halle's Success (2016–2018)
Chloe x Halle released their first professional music collection, an EP called Sugar Symphony, on April 29, 2016. They also had the amazing opportunity to open for Beyoncé's Formation World Tour in Europe during the summer of 2016.
