Alexandra Isley (born April 16, 1987) is an American singer, songwriter, and music producer. She is known for her smooth R&B and soul music. Alex Isley released her first music collection, called an EP (Extended Play), in 2012. It was titled The Love/Art Memoirs.

Alex has worked with many famous artists. These include Scarface, Terrace Martin, Masego, and Lucky Daye. Her talent has also earned her two nominations for the prestigious Grammy Awards.

Early Life and Music Journey

Alexandra Isley grew up in New Jersey. Her father is Ernie Isley, a member of the famous soul group the Isley Brothers. This means music was always a big part of her life!

Later, her family moved to Los Angeles. From a young age, Alex loved to sing. Her family always supported her dream of becoming a professional musician.

Learning Music and Unique Talents

Alex started classical vocal training when she was 12 years old. This helped her learn how to use her voice well. She later went to LA County High School for the Arts. After high school, she studied jazz music at UCLA.

Alex has a special ability called synesthesia. This means she experiences one sense through another. For example, she might see colors when she hears music. She once explained that when she composes music, she sometimes changes the key because "the color won't sit right."

Alex Isley's Music Career

Alex Isley released her first EP, The Love/Art Memoirs, in 2012. She produced this music herself. Critics praised her beautiful voice and calming music.

She describes her music as R&B with influences from hip hop and jazz. People often say her voice is "silky smooth." She has worked with many artists on different songs. For example, she collaborated with 9th Wonder on "Rain Clouds." She also worked with Lucky Daye and Masego on the "Good & Plenty (Remix)."

Albums and Special Performances

In 2019, Alex released an EP called Wilton with producer Jack Dine. The next year, in 2020, she performed a special concert for NPR's Tiny Desk series. This is a popular online music show.

In 2022, she released the album Marigold with Jack Dine. This album was also very well-received. She was also featured on a song called "No Limit" by the singer Tank.

Her album I Left My Heart in Ladera, released in 2023 with Terrace Martin, was a big success. It was her first album to appear on the Billboard charts. It reached number two on the Contemporary Jazz Albums list.

Alex Isley received her first two Grammy Award nominations in 2024. These nominations were for her work on the song "Back to Love" by Robert Glasper. The song was nominated for Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance.
