Courtney Michaela Ann "Coco" Jones (born January 4, 1998) is a talented American singer and actress. She was born in Columbia, South Carolina, and grew up in Lebanon, Tennessee. Coco started auditioning for roles when she was a child because she wanted to work in entertainment.
She first appeared on a TV show called Radio Disney's Next Big Thing from 2010 to 2011. This led to her signing with Hollywood Records and getting parts in several Disney Channel shows. She had recurring roles in the comedy show So Random! (2011–2012) and the sitcom Good Luck Charlie (2012–2013).
Coco's big break came in 2012 when she starred as Roxanne "Roxy" Andrews in the musical TV movie Let It Shine. She sang many songs for the movie's soundtrack.
In 2022, Coco returned to making music. She signed with High Standardz and Def Jam Recordings. Her song "ICU" came out in October 2022. This song was her first to appear on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It also became a platinum-certified song and won a Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance in 2024. She received five Grammy nominations that year, including one for Best New Artist.
Also in 2022, she got a main role in the Peacock drama series Bel-Air. In 2025, she released her first studio album, Why Not More?. This album included the song "Here We Go (Uh Oh)", which was nominated for two Grammys. Coco has also won a BET Award and an NAACP Image Award.

Early Life and Beginnings
Coco Jones was born on January 4, 1998, in Columbia, South Carolina. Her dad, Mike Jones, used to play football in the NFL. Her mom, Javonda Jones, is a singer. Coco grew up in Lebanon, Tennessee. She has a brother, Mike Jones Jr., who played football for LSU. She also has two younger siblings, Aja and Steven.
When she was in kindergarten, Coco sang "America the Beautiful" at her graduation. At nine years old, she met with casting directors from Disney. After that, she started her journey as an actress and songwriter for the company.
Career Highlights
Early Years with Disney
In 2006, Coco competed on Radio Disney and became known for her song "Real You." In 2009, she was chosen to perform on "The Most Talented Kids" episode of the Maury Povich Show. In 2010, she was the runner-up in season 3 of the Radio Disney's The Next Big Thing singing competition.
In 2011, she was a guest star on the Disney Channel show So Random!. Soon after, she released her first music project, Coco Jones. She also went on a concert tour called UBU-Stop the Bullying, which was about stopping bullying.
Starring in Let It Shine
In June 2012, Coco played the main character, Roxie, in the Disney TV movie Let It Shine. This movie was very popular. It was the most-watched Disney Channel Original Movie and the most-watched movie of the year for kids and tweens in 2012. Before the movie came out, Coco and the other main actors from Let It Shine performed at an event for the NAACP Image Awards.
Music with Hollywood Records
Coco signed a record deal with Hollywood Records. She started working with Grammy-nominated producer Rob Galbraith, writing and recording new songs. Her first single, "Holla at the DJ," was played on Radio Disney on December 6, 2012. The music video for the song came out on Disney Channel and VEVO soon after.
Her EP (Extended Play) called Made Of was released on March 12, 2013. It reached the top 10 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. Later that year, she toured with the group Mindless Behavior. Coco also performed with Mindless Behavior at the Radio Disney Music Awards, where she won an award for "Funniest Celebrity Take." After her EP, Coco worked with other artists and producers, planning to release her first full album.
Independent Music and New Roles
In 2014, Coco left Hollywood Records. In August 2014, she released a music video for her song "Peppermint." She made the song available online a month later. In July 2017, Coco appeared in a Fanta commercial. In April 2018, she was in a jazz film called Flock of Four. In September of that year, she released a song called "Just My Luck" with its music video.
On September 3, 2019, Coco released a song called "Depressed." On September 20, she released an 8-song EP titled H.D.W.Y.. In August 2020, it was announced that Coco would appear in the holiday film White Elephant and the horror film Vampires vs. the Bronx. In September 2020, Coco shared that she had faced challenges in the entertainment industry. In November 2020, she released the single "Hollyweird."
In September 2021, Coco was cast in the Peacock drama series Bel-Air. This show is a new version of the popular sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Coco plays the role of Hilary Banks. The show first aired in February 2022.
Success with Def Jam Recordings
On March 20, 2022, Coco Jones announced she had signed a new music deal with High Standardz and Def Jam Recordings. Her first song with the new labels, "Caliber," came out on March 25, 2022. This song was the first single from her EP What I Didn't Tell You.
After releasing another single, "ICU," and an Amazon Music exclusive song, "Love is War," the EP was released on November 4, 2022. In October, Coco was featured on Babyface's album Girls Night Out. She sang on the song "Simple," and its music video came out on October 31.
On January 20, 2023, Coco released a deluxe version of her EP. It included "Simple" and three new songs. Her song "ICU" reached number 21 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart and number 63 on the Billboard Hot 100. These were her first entries on both charts. On January 30, 2024, Coco signed a publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music. On February 10, "Love is War" became available on all streaming platforms. Four days later, she released a Spotify-exclusive cover of "Until the End of Time" with Leon Thomas.
On April 6, 2024, Coco sang the National Anthem at WrestleMania XL in Philadelphia. On August 9, Coco worked with Disney to release a new version of Princess Tiana’s song "Almost There." On August 16, Coco released a song called "Sweep It Up." On November 22, she released her sixth EP, Coco by the Fireplace. On April 25, 2025, Coco released her first full studio album, Why Not More?.
