The 67th Annual Grammy Awards celebrated the best music, songs, and artists from September 16, 2023, to August 30, 2024. Members of the Recording Academy chose the winners. The main show took place on February 2, 2025. It was held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles for the 22nd time. You could watch it on CBS or stream it on Paramount+. A special "premiere ceremony" happened earlier at the Peacock Theater. The list of nominees was shared on YouTube on November 8, 2024. Trevor Noah, a comedian from South Africa, hosted the main event for the fifth year in a row.

Kendrick Lamar's song "Not Like Us" won all five awards it was nominated for. These included Record of the Year and Song of the Year. This made it the most awarded rap song in Grammy history. Kendrick Lamar is only the second rap artist to win both these top awards. The first was Childish Gambino in 2019. Beyoncé had the most nominations with eleven. She won three awards, including Album of the Year and Best Country Album for her album Cowboy Carter. She is the first Black artist to win Best Country Album. She is also the first Black woman to win Album of the Year since Lauryn Hill in 1999. Chappell Roan was named Best New Artist. Sierra Ferrell won all four awards she was nominated for in the American roots music categories. Doechii, who was also nominated for Best New Artist, won Best Rap Album for Alligator Bites Never Heal. She is the third woman to win this award. The others were Lauryn Hill (with the Fugees) in 1997 and Cardi B in 2019. First-time nominee Sabrina Carpenter won her first Grammys for Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Pop Album. Other artists who won three awards included Charli XCX and St. Vincent.

Behind the Scenes: Grammy Changes

For the 2025 Grammy Awards, the Recording Academy made some updates. They changed rules for some award categories. They also updated how artists could qualify for awards. For the first time in four years, no brand new categories were added. Harvey Mason Jr., the CEO of the Recording Academy, sent an important letter to the 12,000 people who vote for the Grammys. He asked them to vote carefully and fairly. He told them not to let personal feelings or mistakes affect their choices.

There were talks about possibly delaying the awards show. This was because of the wildfires happening in Southern California. They also thought about turning the event into a fundraiser to help. But Mason Jr. and Tammy Hurt, who leads the Recording Academy's board, said the show would go on. They worked with local officials to make sure everyone would be safe. This year's Grammys also aimed to raise money for wildfire relief. It also honored the brave first responders who help keep people safe.

What's New: Category Updates

  • The award for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical moved to a different music group. It is now part of the Pop & Dance/Electronic Field.
  • Best Pop Dance Recording is now called Best Dance Pop Recording.
  • Best Dance/Electronic Music Album is now called Best Dance/Electronic Album. For this award, at least half of the album's songs must be Dance/Electronic to qualify.
  • Conjunto music will now be recognized under Best Regional Roots Music Album. Before, it was part of Best Música Mexicana Album (Including Tejano).
  • For Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media, more than 50% of the music must be new. It has to come from new episodes or programs released during the Grammy year.
  • The Best Song for Social Change award was renamed the Harry Belafonte Best Song for Social Change Award. A special group will now choose the finalists and winners each year. This group focuses on how songs can help bring about social change.

Rules for Awards: Criteria Changes

  • All artists who are featured on a song but sing less than 50% of the time will now get a Winner's Certificate. This applies to most album categories.
  • Companies that want to submit music for awards now have to pay $180. This is an increase.
  • The rules for Best Traditional R&B Performance were updated. This is to better recognize songs that sound like classic R&B/soul music. It helps tell them apart from newer R&B styles.
  • The rules for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album were changed. This allows more albums from the musical theater world to be considered. Albums must also have more than 75% new, unreleased songs.
  • For Best Children's Music Album, entries must now include lyrics and English translations. The target audience for these songs is also now defined as "infant to 12 years old".
  • The rules for Songwriter of the Year, Non-Classical were changed. This is to include more songwriters. A songwriter now needs to be credited on at least four songs (down from five). They can also enter up to five additional songs where they are also the main artist or producer.

Winners and Nominees: Who Was Honored?

The first round of voting happened from October 4 to October 15, 2024. The nominees were announced on November 8. This happened during a live stream on the official Grammy YouTube channel. Artists like Brandy Clark, Kirk Franklin, and Kylie Minogue helped announce them. The final voting took place from December 12, 2024, to January 3, 2025. The winners were then revealed at the Grammy Premiere Ceremony and the main show on February 2.

Beyoncé received the most nominations with eleven. This set a new record for the most nominations a female artist has ever received in one year. She had previously tied the record with Lauryn Hill in 1999. With a total of 99 career nominations, Beyoncé became the most nominated artist in Grammy history. She broke the tie she had with her husband, Jay-Z. Taylor Swift is the first woman to get seven nominations for Album of the Year. Her album The Tortured Poets Department earned her this. "Now and Then" by the Beatles is the first song made with artificial intelligence to be nominated for a Grammy. At 100 years old, former U.S. president Jimmy Carter became the oldest nominee ever. He was nominated for Best Audio Book, Narration & Storytelling Recording. Anitta's Funk Generation is the first funk carioca album to be nominated for a Grammy. Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan became the fourteenth and fifteenth artists in history to be nominated for all four main General Field awards in one night. Charli XCX and Post Malone were added to the nominees for Best Recording Package on December 20.
