Run-DMC was a super important hip hop group from Queens, New York. This famous group started in 1983. Its members were Joseph Simmons, Darryl McDaniels, and Jason Mizell.

Run-DMC became one of the most famous hip hop groups of the 1980s. Many people think they are one of the most important groups ever in hip hop culture.

They helped create a new style of hip hop music called "new school." They did this along with other great artists like LL Cool J and Public Enemy. Run-DMC also showed how important the connection between the MC (the rapper) and the DJ (the one playing the music) was.
