INK's Music Journey
Starting in Music
INK taught herself how to play the guitar. In the late 2000s and early 2010s, while she was a student at Clark Atlanta University, she started performing around Atlanta. She didn't have any connections in the music industry at first.
INK was inspired by the album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. This made her want to focus on writing songs and officially join the music world. Early on, she was mentored by writer James Fauntleroy. They connected through the social media platform Facebook.
Early Success in Songwriting
INK worked on many successful songs with artists like Monica, Chris Brown, Trae tha Truth, and Tamar Braxton. In 2020, she appeared on Childish Gambino's album 3.15.20, which was later re-released as Atavista in 2024. In 2021, INK also helped with several songs on Leon Bridges' popular album Gold-Diggers Sound. She even added her voice to the song "Don't Worry."
Working with Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar
In 2022, INK contributed to some big songs on Beyoncé's album Renaissance. These songs included "Alien Superstar", "Thique", and "Summer Renaissance."
In 2024, INK helped write several songs for Beyoncé's Grammy-winning album Cowboy Carter. This included the popular songs "Texas Hold 'Em" and "16 Carriages". "Texas Hold 'Em" made history as the first song by a Black female artist to reach the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. "16 Carriages" also debuted in the Top 10 of the Hot Country Songs chart. INK also worked on songs for Kendrick Lamar's album GNX in 2024. These included the number-one song "Luther", as well as "Gloria" and "Dodger Blue".
Becoming a Solo Artist
In May 2025, INK announced that she had signed with Big Loud, an independent music label in Nashville. She then released her first single as a solo artist, called "Turquoise Cowboy."
