Chauncey Alexander Hollis Jr. (born May 21, 1987), known as Hit-Boy, is an American music artist. He is a rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He first became known for producing hit songs for famous artists.
In 2007, he signed with producer Polow da Don's label, Zone 4. Later, in 2011, he joined Kanye West's GOOD Music label. Hit-Boy gained a lot of attention for his work on Lil Wayne's song "Drop the World" in 2009. This song reached number 18 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The next year, he produced "... in Paris" for Kanye West and Jay-Z. This song went to number five on the chart and sold millions of copies.
Hit-Boy has produced many other popular songs. These include "Trophies" by Drake, "Clique" by GOOD Music, and "Sorry" by Beyoncé. He also produced "Sicko Mode" by Travis Scott, which reached number one on the chart. While producing, he also started his own music career. He signed with Interscope Records and released his first album, We the Plug (2013), with his group HS87. In 2019, he was featured on Nipsey Hussle's song "Racks in the Middle" with Roddy Ricch. This song won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance.
He has also worked closely with rapper Nas, producing six of his albums, including the Grammy-winning King's Disease (2020). He also produced Burden of Proof (2020) by Benny the Butcher. Many of these albums have appeared on the Billboard 200 chart. His own record label, Hits Since '87, started in 2011.

Music Journey
Hit-Boy got his first big production job in 2009 for the More than a Game documentary soundtrack. He co-produced "Stronger" by Mary J. Blige, which was a hit on the R&B/Hip-Hop charts. He also helped create the music group Surf Club.
While working with Zone 4, he met Kanye West. He produced Kanye's 2010 song "Christmas in Harlem". In May 2011, he officially signed with Kanye West's GOOD Music label. This allowed him to work directly on West's projects.
In June 2012, Hit-Boy released his first song as a rapper, "Jay-Z Interview". He also rapped on CyHi the Prynce's mixtape song "Entourage". He then released "Old School Caddy", which featured Kid Cudi. These songs were part of his first full project, a mixtape called HITstory. In 2012, he produced three songs for GOOD Music's album Cruel Summer and ASAP Rocky's single "Goldie".
In December 2012, Hit-Boy signed a solo recording deal with Interscope Records. His label, Hits Since '87, became part of Interscope in January 2013. He later left GOOD Music in June 2013 but remained friends with Kanye West.
Hit-Boy and Los Angeles rapper Dom Kennedy released a joint mixtape called Half-A-Mil EP in December 2017. They then released two more parts, Half-A-Mil 2 and Half-A-Mil 3, in 2017. Their first full album together, Courtesy of Half-a-Mil, came out in November 2017.
From 2020 to 2022, Hit-Boy worked with Nas as the main producer for the King's Disease album series. This included King's Disease, King's Disease II, and King's Disease III. King's Disease I and II were both nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. King's Disease I won, giving Nas his first Grammy. They also worked together on Nas's album Magic in late 2022.
In 2023, Hit-Boy released several projects. He released his own albums SURF OR DROWN in March and SURF OR DROWN Vol. 2 in June. The second album featured his father, Big Hit, who had recently been released from prison. Big Hit had been a rapper before his time in prison. SURF OR DROWN Vol. 2 celebrated their reunion. Hit-Boy also produced Big Hit's first solo album, The Truth Is In My Eyes (2023).
Hit-Boy produced many other albums in 2023. These included three albums for Nas (King's Disease III, Magic 2, and Magic 3), and Musiq Soulchild's Victims & Villains. He also worked on Benny the Butcher's album Everybody Can't Go and the Madden 2024 video game soundtrack. He produced songs for Don Toliver's album Love Sick and "Delresto (Echoes)" by Travis Scott and Beyoncé from Scott's Utopia.
In January 2024, Hit-Boy produced Paisley Dreams for the Game and Big Hit. He also produced Jennifer Lopez's song "Can't Get Enough" for her album This Is Me...Now.
