Chauncey Alexander Hollis Jr. (born May 21, 1987), known professionally as Hit-Boy, is a talented American music producer, rapper, singer, and songwriter. He first gained attention for his work on Lil Wayne's 2009 song "Drop the World". This song became very popular, reaching number 18 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The next year, he produced the hit song "... in Paris" for Kanye West and Jay-Z. This song reached number five on the chart and sold millions of copies. Hit-Boy has also produced many other successful songs for famous artists like Drake, Beyoncé, and Travis Scott. His song "Sicko Mode" with Travis Scott even reached number one on the charts.

Music Career
Early Beginnings
Hit-Boy started his professional music career after a famous producer named Polow da Don contacted him on Myspace. He got his first big production credit in 2009 for a song on the More than a Game documentary soundtrack. This song was released by Polow's label, Zone 4, where Hit-Boy signed as an in-house producer. This meant he worked directly for the label to create music.
He also helped produce the song "Stronger" for Mary J. Blige. Hit-Boy is also a founder of a music group called Surf Club, which he started with other producers.
Working with Kanye West
While working with Zone 4, Hit-Boy met the famous rapper Kanye West. He produced West's 2010 song, "Christmas in Harlem". On May 2, 2011, Hit-Boy officially signed with Kanye West's GOOD Music label. This allowed him to work closely with West and on other projects from the label.
One of his biggest hits from this time was the 2011 song "... in Paris" by Kanye West and Jay-Z. This song won two Grammy Awards and sold millions of copies.
Becoming a Recording Artist
On June 7, 2012, Hit-Boy released his first song as a recording artist, "Jay-Z Interview". He also appeared as a rapper on CyHi the Prynce's mixtape Ivy League Club. He then released his own song, "Old School Caddy", which featured Kid Cudi. These songs were part of his first full music project, a mixtape called HITstory.
In 2012, he also produced three songs for the GOOD Music album Cruel Summer. He also produced ASAP Rocky's popular song "Goldie". In December 2012, Hit-Boy signed a solo recording deal with Interscope Records. His own record label, Hits Since '87, became part of Interscope in January 2013. He later left GOOD Music in June 2013, but remained friends with Kanye West.
Collaborations and Recent Work
In December 2017, Hit-Boy and Los Angeles rapper Dom Kennedy released a joint mixtape called Half-A-Mil EP. They released two more parts of this mixtape in 2017, followed by their first album together, Courtesy of Half-a-Mil, in November of that year.
From 2020 to 2022, Hit-Boy worked closely with Nas as the main producer for the King's Disease album series. This included King's Disease, King's Disease II, and King's Disease III. King's Disease I and II were both nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. King's Disease I won, giving Nas his first Grammy. They also worked together on Nas's album Magic.
In 2023, Hit-Boy released his own albums, SURF OR DROWN and SURF OR DROWN Vol. 2. The second album featured his father, Big Hit, on many songs. Big Hit had recently been released from prison and returned to making music. Hit-Boy also produced his father's first solo album, The Truth Is In My Eyes.
Hit-Boy produced many other albums in 2023, including more Nas albums, Musiq Soulchild's Victims & Villains, and Benny the Butcher's Everybody Can't Go. He also worked on songs for the Madden 2024 video game soundtrack, Don Toliver's album Love Sick, and Travis Scott's Utopia. In early 2024, he produced the album Paisley Dreams for the Game and Big Hit. He also produced Jennifer Lopez's song "Can't Get Enough".
