Jamal Fincher Jones (born October 15, 1977 or 1978), known as Polow da Don, is an American music producer from Atlanta, Georgia. He helps artists create their songs.
Polow da Don started his music journey in the late 1990s. He left college to join a hip hop group called Jim Crow. The group signed with Epic Records in 1999. They released two albums, Crow's Nest (1999) and Right Quick (2001). After these albums, the group left the label.
Even though his first group didn't last, Jones didn't give up. He started making his own music beats in 2001. His first collection of beats reached Jimmy Iovine, who founded Interscope Records. These beats were used for popular songs like "Runaway Love" by Ludacris, "Buttons" by the Pussycat Dolls, and "This Is the Life" by Tru-Life.
Polow da Don has produced many hit songs for famous artists. Some of his biggest hits include "Love in This Club" for Usher (2008) and "Glamorous" for Fergie (2007). He also produced "Anaconda" for Nicki Minaj (2014). These songs reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 music chart. You can often hear his voice in the background of his songs, as he is also known as a "hype man."
Jones also started his own record label called Zone 4 in 2007. This label was part of Interscope Records for a while. Zone 4 was named after a part of his hometown in Atlanta. Some of the artists who joined his label include Keri Hilson, Lloyd, and Kane Brown. Besides music, Jones has also worked in radio.
