Stacy Ann Ferguson (born March 27, 1975), known as Fergie, is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She first became famous as a child star on the TV show Kids Incorporated. Later, she was part of the girl group Wild Orchid.
In the 2000s, Fergie became a huge international star as a member of the hip hop group the Black Eyed Peas. She recorded four successful albums with them. Her first solo album, The Dutchess (2006), was a big hit. It featured popular songs like "Big Girls Don't Cry", "Glamorous", and "London Bridge".
Fergie has also acted in movies such as Poseidon (2006) and Nine (2009). She has sold over 35 million albums and 60 million singles worldwide. She has won eight Grammy Awards for her music.

Early Life and Childhood
Stacy Ann Ferguson was born on March 27, 1975, in Hacienda Heights, California. Her parents are Terri and Jon Patrick Ferguson. She has a younger sister named Dana. Her family background includes English, Irish, Mexican, and Scottish roots.
Fergie grew up as a Roman Catholic. She went to Mesa Robles Middle School and Glen A. Wilson High School. During her school years, she was a cheerleader and a very good student. She was also a spelling bee champion and a Girl Scout.
Music and Acting Career
Early Acting Roles and Wild Orchid Group
Fergie started her career early by studying dance and doing voiceover work. She was the voice of Sally Brown in two Peanuts TV cartoons: It's Flashbeagle, Charlie Brown (1984) and Snoopy's Getting Married, Charlie Brown (1985). She also voiced Sally Brown in four episodes of The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show.
From 1984 to 1989, Fergie was a main cast member on the TV show Kids Incorporated. She was on the show for six of its nine seasons. After Kids Incorporated, Fergie became part of a female music group called Wild Orchid. She formed the group with Stefanie Ridel and Renee Sandstrom, who was also on Kids Incorporated.
The group worked hard to get a record deal and finally signed with RCA Records in 1994. Wild Orchid released their first album in 1997. Their second album, Oxygen, came out in 1998. In 1999, they opened for Cher's "Do You Believe?" tour. Fergie left the group in 2001.
Joining the Black Eyed Peas
In 2002, the Black Eyed Peas were working on their third album, Elephunk (2003). will.i.am invited Fergie to sing on a song called "Shut Up". She did a great job and quickly connected with the group. She ended up recording five more songs for the album.
Soon after, in 2003, Fergie was asked to join the Black Eyed Peas permanently. This made the group a quartet. Their song "Where Is the Love?" became a huge hit, reaching number eight in the U.S. and topping charts in many other countries. The album also featured "Shut Up," which was a number one hit in many places.
Success with Monkey Business
The Black Eyed Peas released their next album, Monkey Business, in 2005. It sold over 295,000 copies in its first week. The first song from the album, "Don't Phunk with My Heart", was a big success. It reached number three in the U.S. and won them a Grammy Award.
Another popular song from the album was "Don't Lie". In 2005, the Black Eyed Peas toured with Gwen Stefani. They also went on a "European Tour" in December 2005 and the "Honda Civic Tour" in March 2006.
Solo Album The Dutchess
Fergie's first solo album, The Dutchess, was released in September 2006. It was a very successful album.
In 2007, the Black Eyed Peas went on their "Black Blue & You World Tour," visiting over 20 countries. Fergie also returned to acting. She appeared in the movie Poseidon in 2006. She also had roles in Grindhouse (2007) and the musical film Nine (2009). The cast of Nine won an award for their acting. Continued Success with the Black Eyed Peas
In 2009, the Black Eyed Peas released their fifth album, The E.N.D (which stands for "The Energy Never Dies"). This album had a more electronic sound. It sold 304,000 copies in its first week and reached number one on the Billboard 200 chart.
The first song from the album, "Boom Boom Pow", became the group's first number one hit in the United States. They then released "I Gotta Feeling", which was an even bigger success. It stayed at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for 14 weeks. These two songs kept the Black Eyed Peas at the top of the charts for 26 weeks in a row.
Other popular songs from The E.N.D. included "Meet Me Halfway", "Imma Be", and "Rock That Body". In 2009, Fergie became a part-owner of the Miami Dolphins football team. The group also went on "The E.N.D World Tour" and performed at the Grammy Awards in 2010. They won three Grammy Awards for their work on The E.N.D..
Their sixth album, The Beginning, was released in 2010. It included songs like "The Time (Dirty Bit)" and "Just Can't Get Enough". In 2011, the Black Eyed Peas announced they would take a break after their tour. In 2012, Fergie became a partner for Voli Light Vodkas.
Double Dutchess Album Release
In 2013, Fergie announced she was working on her second solo album. She also legally changed her name to Fergie Duhamel, taking her husband's last name at the time, Josh Duhamel. In 2014, she confirmed that will.i.am would help produce the album. She shared that being a mother influenced her new songs.
In September 2014, Fergie released a new song called "L.A. Love (La La)". It reached number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In June 2015, Fergie announced her second album would be called Double Dutchess. A teaser for the album, "Hungry (1st Byte)", was released in 2016.
On July 1, 2016, she released the song "M.I.L.F. $". Fergie was inspired to write this song after her son, Axl, was born. The music video featured many famous mothers. In November 2016, she released "Life Goes On".
In 2017, Fergie left Interscope Records and started her own music company, Dutchess Music. While there were rumors she left the Black Eyed Peas, will.i.am said she was just taking a break to focus on her solo career. Double Dutchess was finally released on September 22, 2017. A film called Double Dutchess: Seeing Double was also released with the album.
Recent Work and Appearances
In February 2018, will.i.am confirmed that Fergie had officially left the Black Eyed Peas. In 2018, Fergie hosted a singing competition show called The Four: Battle for Stardom on Fox.
In 2019, Fergie appeared on VH1's Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party, competing against actress Octavia Spencer to make the best brunch. In 2022, Fergie performed at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards with Jack Harlow. This was her first televised performance in four years.
Other Business Ventures
Fashion and Beauty Lines
Fergie has also been successful in business. In 2007, she launched two handbag collections with Kipling. In 2008, she partnered with Brown Shoe to create her own shoe lines.
In 2010, Fergie launched her first perfume, Outspoken by Fergie, with Avon. She released more perfumes in her Outspoken line over the years. Her tagline for her fragrances is "Say What You Mean It."
In 2012, Fergie released a nail polish collection with Wet 'n' Wild. She then launched her own makeup line with Wet 'n' Wild in 2013, which included lip gloss, lipstick, and eyeliner. Wine Business

Fergie has appeared on the covers of many fashion magazines, including Marie Claire, Harper's Bazaar, and Elle. She has also been in advertisements for brands like Voli, MAC Cosmetics, and Pepsi.

Personal Life
Fergie started dating actor Josh Duhamel in September 2004. They met when the Black Eyed Peas made a guest appearance on Duhamel's TV show Las Vegas. Fergie and Duhamel got engaged in December 2007 and married on January 10, 2009. They have one son named Axl Jack, who was born on August 29, 2013.
On September 14, 2017, Fergie and Duhamel announced that they had separated earlier that year. They filed for divorce in June 2019, and their divorce was finalized in November 2019.
In 2013, Fergie built a house in Solvang, California, which she sold in 2023. Her home in Brentwood, Los Angeles was saved by firefighters during the January 2025 Southern California wildfires.
