Renee Ilene Sandstrom, known as Renee Sands, is an American singer and actress. She started acting as a child. Many people know her from the TV show Kids Incorporated. She was also a singer in the popular girl group Wild Orchid.

Early Life and Beginnings
Renee Sands was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, in the United States. She is the youngest of four children in her family. From a young age, Renee loved to sing. She even had a band with her family members!
As a child, Renee showed her talent in a Boston talent show called Community Auditions. She came in second place. She also had the chance to perform before famous entertainers like Wayne Newton, Bob Hope, and Debbie Reynolds.
Her Acting and Singing Career
Renee Sands has had a long career in both acting and singing. She became well-known for her roles on TV and as part of a successful music group.
Kids Incorporated TV Show
In 1983, Renee starred in the first episode of a popular children's musical show called Kids Incorporated. This pilot episode was released on VHS in 1985. Renee was a main character on the show for its first four seasons, from 1984 to 1987. She joined the show when she was 10 years old and stayed until she was 13. She eventually became the oldest female character on the show.
While on Kids Incorporated, Renee also sang in the children's choir. She joined other cast members on the song "Toy Soldiers" by Martika, which became a big hit.
Wild Orchid Girl Group
From 1990 to 2003, Renee Sands was a member of the American girl group Wild Orchid. She was part of the group for its entire history. Her bandmates were Stacy Ferguson, who was also her TV sister on Kids Incorporated, and Stefanie Ridel, a friend from high school.
The group first started in 1990 under the name "NRG." In 1992, they changed their name to Wild Orchid. They signed a record deal with RCA Records in 1994. Wild Orchid released two albums and were even nominated for Billboard Music Awards. In 2001, Stacy Ferguson left the group. Renee and Stefanie Ridel continued as a duo. They released Wild Orchid's final album, Hypnotic, in 2003. In 2013, Us Weekly magazine named Wild Orchid one of the top 25 'Best Girl Groups of All Time'.
Other Music and Acting Roles
Renee Sands has also lent her voice to many other projects.
- She sang "Just Like We Dreamed It" with Ruben Martinez. This song was the theme for Disneyland Paris's 15th anniversary.
- In the Disney Channel Original Movie Camp Rock, Renee provided the singing voice for the character Margaret "Peggy" Dupree, played by Jasmine Richards. She sang the song "Here I Am" in the movie.
- She sang "Love from Afar" for the soundtrack of the movie Just Friends.
- In 2003, Renee and her Wild Orchid bandmate Stephanie Ridel starred in a movie called Pink Ladies.
- In 2012, she sang "I Think I Like You" with the band Eagle Eye. This song was featured in the second season of the TV show Dance Moms.
- In 2021, Renee sang the main theme song for the Disney Junior show The Chicken Squad.
Personal Life
On October 10, 2008, Renee Sands married Robby Welles in a private ceremony. Robby Welles is an expert in retirement investments. The couple held their wedding in Los Angeles, California. Renee and Robby have a daughter together.
