Fanboy & Chum Chum is a fun American cartoon series. It uses 3D CGI animation. Eric Robles created the show for Nickelodeon.
The series is based on an earlier short cartoon called Fanboy. Eric Robles also made that short for Nicktoons and Frederator Studios. It was shown on a program called Random! Cartoons.
Fanboy & Chum Chum first aired on October 12, 2009, as a special preview. Its official start was on November 6, 2009. This happened right after the SpongeBob's Truth or Square special.
The show is about two best friends, Fanboy and Chum Chum. They are a bit silly and think they are superheroes. They try to protect their town, Galaxy Hills, from bad guys. But mostly, they just annoy everyone around them!
The first episode was very popular. About 5.8 million people watched it. The second episode had 5.4 million viewers. The series even won an award! It got a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Class Animated Program. This was at the 38th Daytime Emmy Awards.
The show finished its main run on November 2, 2012. One episode, "Brain Freeze," came out on DVD in 2011. It didn't air on TV until July 12, 2014. The catchy theme song was written by Brad Joseph Breeck. An experimental punk band called The Mae Shi performed it.
