The Black Eyed Peas are a popular hip hop group from Los Angeles, California, in the United States. Their music mixes different styles, including hip hop, R&B, and dance. The group currently has three members: will.i.am, apl.de.ap, and Taboo. They have sold over 80 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling music groups ever!

Their Music Journey

Starting Out and Becoming Famous

The Black Eyed Peas started in Los Angeles in 1995. For a while, they were known for alternative hip hop music. But they became really famous in 2003 with their third album, Elephunk. Around this time, Fergie joined the group, replacing Kim Hill. This change helped them become a more popular pop-rap group.

Their first big hit song was "Where Is the Love?" from the Elephunk album in 2003. This song became number one in 13 countries! It was even the biggest-selling song in the United Kingdom that year.

Big Hits and Awards

Their next album, Monkey Business, released in 2005, was even more successful around the world. In 2009, the group made history. They had two songs, "Boom Boom Pow" and "I Gotta Feeling", at the top two spots on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at the same time. "I Gotta Feeling" stayed at number one for a very long time – 26 weeks!

Their album The E.N.D. also had another number-one hit, "Imma Be". This made them one of the few groups to have three number-one songs from the same album. Other popular songs from this album included "Rock That Body" and "Meet Me Halfway". "I Gotta Feeling" was also the first song to be downloaded over one million times in the United Kingdom.

In January 2010, The Black Eyed Peas won three awards at the 52nd Grammy Awards. They also performed at the Super Bowl XLV halftime show in February 2011. After this, the group took a break to work on other projects. They got back together in 2015.

Recent Years and New Music

In 2018, Fergie left the group. J. Rey Soul joined them for touring and also sang on some songs from their seventh album, Masters of the Sun Vol. 1. The group released their eighth album, Translation, in June 2020. Their ninth album, Elevation, came out in November 2022.

The Black Eyed Peas are known for their energetic performances and catchy songs. They were ranked among the top artists of the 2000s by Billboard magazine.
