Lloyd Polite Jr. (born January 3, 1986) is an American R&B singer. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and grew up in Decatur, Georgia. Lloyd started his music journey in 1996 as part of the boy band N-Toon.
After N-Toon broke up in 2001, Lloyd began a solo career. He signed with Irv Gotti's Murder Inc. Records in 2003. His first song, "Southside" (featuring Ashanti), came out in 2004. It became a top 40 hit. His first album, Southside (2004), reached number 11 on the Billboard 200 chart.
His second album, Street Love (2007), was even more successful, reaching number two on the charts. It included popular songs like "You" (featuring Lil Wayne) and "Get It Shawty". These songs made it into the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Lloyd's third album, Lessons in Love (2008), reached number seven. He also had a big hit with Young Money's song "BedRock" in 2009, which reached number two. Lloyd Polite Jr. was born on January 3, 1986, in New Orleans, Louisiana. His parents are Lloyd Polite Sr. and Robin Lewis Polite. He spent his early years in the Calliope Projects in New Orleans. He wanted to teach them "lessons in love". The album debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200 chart. It also reached number one on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. It sold 51,000 copies in its first week.

On May 6, 2016, Lloyd released his first new song in five years, titled "Tru". The audio for the song was put on YouTube 12 days later. On June 23, 2016, Lloyd shared that he had signed a new deal with Empire. Lloyd announced his fifth studio album, Out My Window, on October 25, 2016. On November 7, Lloyd announced on Instagram that he would release a new EP before his album. This EP, titled Tru, came out on December 9, 2016.
On July 9, 2018, Lloyd released "Caramel" as the first song from his album Tru. The album was released on August 31, 2018.
Personal Life
On September 3, 2010, Lloyd cut his long hair and donated it to charity. On July 6, 2011, Lloyd showed off a new tattoo on the back of his head. On March 14, 2016, it was announced that Lloyd had earned his GED certificate. He encouraged his fans to finish high school if they hadn't. In an August 2016 interview, Lloyd talked about why he took a break from music. He explained that he had lost an unborn child, which "left a big hole". He also shared details about other family issues. In September 2017, Lloyd's girlfriend gave birth to their son, River. They welcomed their daughter in late 2018.
