Early Life and Music Beginnings
Kane Brown grew up in rural northwest Georgia and near Chattanooga, Tennessee. His mother is white, and his father is African-American and part Cherokee. He was raised by his single mother.
His family moved a lot when he was younger, living in different towns in Georgia and Tennessee. Because of this, he went to many different schools. At Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe High School in Fort Oglethorpe, he sang in the choir with Lauren Alaina, who later became famous on American Idol.
Kane Brown enjoyed country music as a child, but in middle school, he started listening to R&B. However, in 11th grade, he won a school talent show by singing a Chris Young song. This made him want to perform country music again. He tried out for American Idol and The X Factor. He was chosen for The X Factor in 2013 but left because the show wanted him to join a boy band. After that, he decided to share his music by posting cover songs online.
Music Career
In 2014, Kane Brown started posting videos of himself singing cover songs by artists like Brantley Gilbert and Alan Jackson on social media. His videos quickly became popular on Facebook. One of his early videos, a cover of Lee Brice's "I Don't Dance", got a lot of attention.
On September 30, 2015, his cover of George Strait's "Check Yes or No" went viral, getting over seven million views. His Facebook followers grew to more than a million. Then, on October 8, 2015, he released a short preview of his own song, "Used to Love You Sober". This preview got one million views in less than three hours and over 11 million views in two weeks!
Kane Brown first signed with Zone 4 and later with Martha Earls as his manager in 2016.
Early EPs and Singles (2014–2015)
In 2014, Kane Brown used a website called Kickstarter to raise money for his first six-song EP. He recorded it in Nashville, Tennessee. This EP, called Closer, came out on June 2, 2015. It quickly reached number 22 on the Top Country Albums chart. A song from the EP, "Don't Go City on Me", was released earlier and reached number 43 on the Country Digital Songs chart.
On his birthday, October 21, 2015, Kane Brown released his new song "Used to Love You Sober". It became very popular, reaching number two on the Country Digital Songs chart in just two days. This also helped his Closer EP climb to number 22 on the Top Album Sales chart. He then released two more songs, "Last Minute Late Night" and "I Love That I Hate You", which also did well on the digital charts.

A special deluxe version of Kane Brown's debut album was released on October 6, 2017. It had four new songs, including a duet with Chris Young and "Heaven". After this deluxe edition came out, the album went to number five on the Billboard 200 and returned to number one on the Top Country Albums chart.
