Kane Allen Brown (born October 21, 1993) is an American country music singer and songwriter. He first became popular by sharing his music on social media. He released his first collection of songs, called an extended play (EP), Closer, in June 2015. Later that year, in October, he released the song "Used to Love You Sober".
After Kane Brown signed with RCA Nashville in early 2016, "Used to Love You Sober" was included on his second EP, Chapter 1, released in March 2016. His first full studio album, Kane Brown, came out in December 2016. This album featured the hit song "What Ifs" with Lauren Alaina. In October 2017, Kane Brown made history by having songs at number one on all five main Billboard country music charts at the same time. His second album, Experiment, released in November 2018, became his first album to reach number one on the Billboard 200 chart.

Early Life and Musical Start
Kane Brown grew up in rural northwest Georgia and near Chattanooga, Tennessee. He has a white mother and an African-American father who is also part Cherokee. He was raised by his single mother.
His family moved often, so Kane Brown attended many different schools. He sang in the choir at Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe High School with Lauren Alaina, who later became famous on American Idol. He also went to Red Bank, Ridgeland, and Soddy Daisy High School. After finishing school, he lived with his grandmother, who also helped raise him.
Kane Brown listened to country music as a child, but he became interested in R&B music in middle school. However, in 11th grade, he almost won a school talent show by singing Chris Young's "Gettin' You Home". This made him want to perform country music. He tried out for American Idol and The X Factor USA. He was chosen for The X Factor USA in 2013 but left because the show wanted him to join a boy band. After that, he decided to share his cover songs online.
Building a Career in Music
In 2014, Kane Brown started posting videos of himself singing covers of songs by artists like Brantley Gilbert, Billy Currington, and Alan Jackson on social media. He quickly gained many followers on Facebook for these videos. One of his early popular videos was a cover of Lee Brice's "I Don't Dance".
On September 30, 2015, his cover of George Strait's "Check Yes or No" became very popular, getting over seven million views. His Facebook followers grew to more than a million. This led to a preview of his own song, "Used to Love You Sober", which got one million views in less than three hours when it was released on October 8, 2015. In just two weeks, it had over 11 million views.
Kane Brown first signed with Zone 4 and worked with Jay Frank as his manager. In 2016, Martha Earls became his manager.
First Songs and EPs
In 2014, Kane Brown used a crowdfunding website called Kickstarter to raise money for his first six-song EP. He recorded it in Nashville, Tennessee, at the home studio of Noah Henson, a guitarist for Brantley Gilbert. This EP, called Closer, was released on June 2, 2015. It quickly appeared on the Top Country Albums chart.
He released "Used to Love You Sober" on his birthday, October 21, 2015. This song became very popular, reaching number two on the Country Digital Songs chart in just two days. The success of this song also helped his Closer EP move up the charts. He then released two more songs, "Last Minute Late Night" in November 2015 and "I Love That I Hate You" later that month.
Signing with RCA and Debut Album
Kane Brown signed with Sony Music Nashville on January 27, 2016, and records under the RCA Nashville label. His first EP with this label, Chapter 1, came out on March 18, 2016. It included "Used to Love You Sober" and "Last Minute Late Night". This EP debuted at number nine on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart.
On June 17, 2016, "Ain't No Stopping Us Now" was released to promote his first full album. "Thunder in the Rain" was the first song from the album sent to radio on August 3, 2016. Kane Brown then started his own "Ain't No Stopping Us Now Tour" in November 2016.
His first full album, Kane Brown, was released on December 2, 2016. It debuted at number 10 on the U.S. Billboard 200. The song "What Ifs", which he sang with his friend Lauren Alaina, became the second single from the album. It has been recognized as 8 times Platinum, meaning it sold millions of copies. It became a number one hit on the Billboard Country Airplay charts in October 2017 and stayed at number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for five weeks.
A special deluxe edition of Kane Brown's debut album was released on October 6, 2017. It included four new songs, like a duet with Chris Young and "Heaven". "Heaven" was released as the album's third single in November 2017. With the release of the deluxe edition, the album went to number five on the Billboard 200 and returned to number one on the Top Country Albums chart. Because of "What Ifs" and "Heaven", Kane Brown became the first artist to have number one songs on all five main country charts at the same time.
New Albums and Collaborations
On June 7, 2018, RCA Nashville released "Lose It" as the first song from his second RCA album. Another song from the album, "Weekend", came out on August 8, 2018. On September 4, 2018, Kane Brown announced the album's title, Experiment, along with its cover and news about the song "Homesick". Experiment was released on November 9, 2018, and became his first album to reach number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
In 2018 and 2019, Kane Brown worked with many other artists like Becky G, Camila Cabello, and Digital Farm Animals. He also released a new version of "Saturday Nights" with R&B singer Khalid. He appeared on Brooks & Dunn's album Reboot for a new version of their hit song "Believe".
